2 A LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMEN COURSE OBJECTIVES Dear Colleagues: Following this course, participants should be able to: For twenty years, the Harms Study Group has set the standard in pediatric spinal deformity care. To celebrate our twentieth anniversary, the Harms Study Group and the Setting Scoliosis Straight Foundation are hosting an unforgettable weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Saturday, January 24, 2015, we will hold an in-depth CME Course followed by a Gala Fundraising Celebration in honor of our study group and foundation. The course will feature a roster of world-class surgeons presenting master techniques in Cerebral Palsy Scoliosis, Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, and Scheuermann s Kyphosis. Free papers on advances in research and treatment options will be presented, and robust discussions and debates on current controversies in the field will be facilitated. The evening following the course will feature a Gala Celebration at the stunning Gehry Building at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. This black-tie evening event and dinner will celebrate the past twenty years of research in our field and raise funds for the next twenty years of innovation. This weekend in Las Vegas is a time to reflect on past accomplishments, take stock of current issues and treatments, and look forward to the next frontiers in pediatric spinal deformity care. Summarize emerging issues and new research in pediatric spinal deformity care, relating to Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis and Early Onset Scoliosis. Discuss surgical strategies, common complications, and techniques for complication avoidance in the management of Cerebral Palsy Scoliosis. Describe current best practices and techniques for treating Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, including selection of fusion levels. Evaluate the optimal approaches for treating Scheuermann s Kyphosis.
