Introduction Defencity Sdn Bhd provides network security solutions for Internet and Intranet environment. Our flagship product is called Defencity NetSecure firewall appliance. It is called a Firewall due to its defensive capabilities to protect and shield internal network from malicious attacks. However, it seems as if we are undervaluing its worth by calling it just a firewall because Defencity NetSecure is not like just any other Firewalls. It does so much more. It is in fact a security solution for business application. Defencity NetSecure is appliance based, with luxuriant features incorporated to provide the best of security solutions. Unlike any other Firewalls, Defencity NetSecure provides the features that many other firewalls neglect. One of the key features that it extends to its clients is the technology of mining. Defencity NetSecure is a Malaysian product. All the technical expertise that are involved in the development of the product are very experienced Malaysian with the help of consultants from Australia and Singapore. All contributions and research has been undertaken in Malaysia and targeted to please the Malaysian market. Defencity has devoted much thought to cater to the needs of the Malaysian IT industry and the Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese version of the firewall will be released very soon. Defencity Sdn Bhd is very proud to be one of the leading security solutions provider in Malaysia that carries a totally Malaysian made firewall that is compatible if not better than other international firewalls.

Why We Are Different? We are different from other vendors because we give more and we take less. Our product features are fantastically more than what other firewalls can do. Not only that, we combine what it takes to give your network maximum security which conventionally, you need to purchase different kinds of appliances to be able to achieve that state of security. However now, this has become the past due to our innovative creation that caters to the needs of the technology era. We have eliminated the need to purchase many types of security appliances and come up with a single solution that basically covers all the need of your organization. Best of all, it comes with one price and one box! This is definitely good news to the network administrators because with one price, it means the saving of cost and with one box means the saving of much space. Defencity Firewall is basically a 3 in 1 product. It combines the features of a firewall, Intrusion Detection System, as well as Mail Content Security. What can a Firewall do? Basically the job of a firewall is to be able to control Who can access what. Firewalls can block services that are known to be problematic. Generally, firewalls are configured to protect against unauthenticated interactive logins. Firewalls can act as a very powerful tracing tool in providing important logging and auditing functionality. What can an Intrusion Detection System do? A typical Intrusion Detection System is a security management system for computers and networks. These systems, or also known as IDS are usually used to monitor the network activity. Information being transmitted across computer network is gathered and analyzed to detect and if possible to prevent potential security breaches.

There are two basic types of IDS. The first is network-based and the second host-based of which the IDS of our Defencity NetSecure is a hybrid of both. Network-based systems examines each packet of information, looking for protocol anomalies and known virus signatures. On the other hand, host-based systems are normally used for individual machines to read log files, to look for inadvisable settings or passwords, or other potential policy violations. Usually an IDS is used alongside a firewall because its tasks is to pick up from where the firewall leave off. An IDS compliments a firewall very well., said John Pescatore, research director for Gartner Group in Stamford, Conn. "Firewalls do a good job of keeping the 'bad guys' out. Once you start using inbound connections, like e-business or remote access, you poke holes in that firewall. Intrusion detection is a way to make sure that only the 'good guys' remotely access your network." What can a Mail Content Security do? Mail Content Security or also known as content security is basically an Internet Security solution of which the main function is to control all electronic information transmitted to or from a network via or the Internet. The functionality also covers anti-virus scanning, controlling file attachment types, keywords, size, source and destination of messages. What can Defencity NetSecure do? With the above known facts, the team have significantly gone through much research and morphed our Defencity NetSecure into a hybrid version that have all the important features of a firewall, Intrusion Detection System as well as Mail Content Security which is an amazing technology breakthrough.

Advantages Detects and block SYN flood attacks and port scan on the firewall. This will be done through the Intrusion Detection System (IDS). Just like its name, what it does is it will automatically detect an intrusion and immediately block any attempts of hacking into the system. Not only that, the IDS will also automatically send an or even SMS the administrator to inform him of the attempts of attack. IDS can monitor and responds to security events as and when they occur. IDS basically does network surveillance around-the-clock. Keeping the employees focused on the job by denying them access to the evil temptations of the Internet. Employers cannot keep their eyes on their employees all the time and to make sure they are doing their job, especially in big organizations where this is something impossible to achieve. The great news is that Defencity NetSecure have made possible the impossible. Security monitoring could be achieved internally with 3 of the features that is i. Policy Setting, ii. Mail filtering iii. mining. Employers will be able to control the usage of the Internet of their employees by setting the policy rules on where are they allowed to go to on the Internet and when they can access and also what applications they are allowed to use. For example, you can set the policy to allow the accounts department to have access to the internet only during lunch time, lets say from 12-2pm. The web design department will have full access to the Internet from 9 to 5 but they are not allowed to ICQ or MSN. This is a good way to make sure that the employee is doing their job, and not any other private agendas. Ensures information and application availability. This is very important for companies that runs their business online, example e-commerce sites that needs to keep their online business up and running all the time.

Prevents serious financial losses and legal liabilities. Network breaches could cost an e-commerce company the lost of millions of dollars of online purchase during down time. Defencity NetSecure provides a secure channel for online business and protects the interest of the company. Saves time. As the saying goes, Time is more precious than gold. In business, time is translated to dollars and cents. Defencity NetSecure, saves much time through the number of caching capabilities like web caching, transparent caching as well as DNS caching features that ultimately increases the speed of the system. Saves bandwidth. Defencity NetSecure saves bandwidth through Bandwidth prioritization and advertisement blocking. Through Defencity NetSecure we are able to have full control over the bandwidth of the network within the organization. The advertisement blocking filters out advertisement banners that are usually unwanted and simply irritating. This way, it saves bandwidth and speeds up connection. While the Internet has wonderfully transformed and improved the way we do business, this has lead to more security threats. Potential security breaches are increasing in an exponential manner and the need of security measures is inevitable. Defencity NetSecure promotes data confidentiality and protects data integrity of an organization because the best preventive measure is through risk minimization.

Uniqueness 1. All in one 2. Hardware and software bundled in. 3. Easy to use Web based interface 4. Remote login The uniqueness of our system would be the all in one hardware and software bundle. Defencity NetSecure comes in the form of hardware and software bundle. It is appliance based and plug and play. Defencity NetSecure also comes in the form of easy to use Web based format. This enables system administrators to be able to use the system without much complication because all the administrator has to do is to understand what can Defencity NetSecure do and that would be sufficient. The administrator does not have to be very technically sound to be able to set up a proper policy. Apart from that, the uniqueness of our system is the capability for remote login. Through the secure remote login feature which is the web based SSH, administrators will be able to login to the server remotely to perform their administration duties.

Innovation The innovativeness of our product comes in many forms. One of our specialties would be the creativeness in incorporating mining solutions in our firewall. With mining included, it gives us a greater advantage over our competitors. mining allows employers to have control over every mail that goes in and out of the company/organization. application is the most widely used application in any company/organization. With this in mind, Defencity came up with the technology of E- mail mining as well as Mail virus scanning to maximize the security over s. I once was thought that is the best thing that technology ever evolved into. I have to agree with that statement because personally, I can t live without . This thought led us to spending greater effort in finding a better solution to incorporate and maximize the security of a network around this area. The computer Security Institute (CSI) in San Francisco estimates that between 60-80% of network misuse comes from inside the enterprise where the misuse has taken place. Many other firewalls tend to cater for attempt of attacks from outside the network and have totally overlooked the importance of security measures from within the organization itself. Have you ever realize that with hundreds and hundreds of s that comes in and goes out of an organization every second on a daily basis, there has yet been any solution that enables us to track and retrieve information about these mails? mining allows employers to track and have control over every mail that goes in and out of the company/organization. application is the most widely used application in any company/organization. With this in mind, Defencity came up with the technology of mining as well as Mail virus scanning to maximize the security over s.

Many events could take place through s be it a hello note or a romantic online affair or even to the extend of exchanging of sensitive information. Leakage of company secrets could also take place through and no one knows about it accept the sender and the recipient. There are 3 fantastic features Defencity NetSecure provide in mining. They are : i. Mail Searching ii. Mail Monitoring iii. Mail Archiving Mail searching allows a search to be done based on subjects or even the content of all the mails in the mail server. Mail monitoring allows the employers to be able to monitor every mail that goes in and comes out of the mail server. Employers will be able to know to whom and from whom the mail have been sent to and vice versa. Mail archiving archives the mails and sort it according to date. Employers will be able to retrieve all the mails that have been sent and received for the day, or any specified date.

Potential Defencity NetSecure is not only beneficial to the Malaysian IT industry, it also benefits many software application, even to its competitors. Many other firewall vendors sell security solutions separately, this means it will incur more cost and more hardware acquisition that will be very timely and takes up more space in the company premise. Defencity NetSecure eliminates all the trouble by offering everything in a bundle. All the features come in just one single box, and also with the price of one. This is definitely good news because it is a technology breakthrough. To its competitors, Defencity NetSecure integrates well with other firewalls and can serve as a great add-on because the features that Defencity NetSecure provide will be able to compliment other existing firewalls. Currently Defencity NetSecure is in the process of making Defencity NetSecure the first multilingual firewall targeted on the Malaysian industry. In the very near future, Defencity NetSecure will soon release the English version, Bahasa Malaysia version and Chinese version to make it totally Malaysian friendly.
