1 CAE Scholars Program Application As an Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (IC CAE), the Center for Global Security and International Affairs has a mission to prepare students be more competitive in obtaining careers in national security and international affairs. Its curriculum has a specific emphasis on developing those critical skills relevant in preparing students for diverse careers in the Intelligence Community, while also allowing students to pursue the major of their choice. The program welcomes students with diverse cultural backgrounds, language proficiency, geographical expertise and related competencies. The CAE Scholars Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students in all majors who have a minimum GPA of 3.0, who are in good academic standing, and who are U.S. citizens. Application Requirements To become a CAE Scholar, a student must: Be a U.S. citizen Have a minimum 3.0 GPA Be in good academic standing Complete the CAE Scholars Application. The following documents must be included with the application: o Two (2) completed evaluations from a faculty member, academic advisors and/or employer. o o An unofficial FAMU transcript A typed two-page statement of purpose

2 Certificate in Global Security Studies The Certificate in Global Security Studies is a multidisciplinary program and is open to pre and post baccalaureates. The program is designed to provide students with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to pursue a career in either national intelligence and/or global security. The program allows students to pursue either the general certificate or an advanced certificate. The certificate programs require completion of six (6) select courses; whereas, the advanced certificate requires successful completion of an additional 12 hours an/or a language proficiency in Arabic, Mandarin, Russian or Swahili. All courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and more than 60 credit hours will have the option to complete an internship with one or more participating public sector agencies. The certificate program currently has seven tracks: African World Affairs, computer information systems, criminal justice, economics, engineering, political science and psychology. Each track requires completion of three (3) core courses and three (3) elective courses from a selected track. All students are required to consult with his/her advisor before signing up for any course. Any courses taken as a requirement for the major may not be selected to fulfill program requirements for a certificate in Global Security Studies.
