Long-Term Care: Virginia Veterans Care Center (Salem) and Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (Richmond) Burial: Virginia Veterans Cemetery (Amelia),the Albert G. Horton, J., Memorial Veterans Cemetery (Suffolk) and the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery (Dublin)

4 MISSION The Virginia Wounded Warrior Program (VWWP), in cooperation with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services, monitors and coordinates behavioral health, rehabilitative services, and support through an integrated, comprehensive, and responsive system of public and private partnerships.
5 WHO WE SERVE The statewide program serves Veterans of any era, with any discharge status, through an extensive network of local, federal, and state partnerships. Any Virginia Veteran (do not have to be wounded to receive care coordination services) Members of the Virginia National Guard not on active federal service Virginia residents in the Armed Forces Reserves not on active federal service Family members of these Veterans and service members
6 VWWP Goal: A Well Coordinated System of Care and Support for Our Veterans and Their Families through Partnerships Housing Care Coordination Outreach Behavioral Healthcare Healthcare Transportation Education Financial Assistance Crisis intervention Employment Vocational Rehab 6
7 Housing Development Overview Director and Associate Director positions promote and coordinate an integrated system of care to end veteran homelessness and support the housing needs of Virginia Veterans across the spectrum Partner with Federal VA VISNs, Medical Centers (HCHV, HUD VASH) and VA and DOL homeless services grantees in Virginia (SSVF, Non-VAMC GPD, Continuum of Care, HVRP) Partner with other state agencies to decrease services barriers for Virginia Veterans (DMV, DSS, VEC, DCJS, DOC, DHCD, VDH) Augment Virginia Wounded Warrior Program (VWWP) through coordination of homeless/housing direct services implementation and technical assistance Provide technical assistance to CoCs and other local stakeholders to end veteran homelessness Work with the housing development community to ensure the availability of affordable and accessible housing 7
8 Support for the Housing Development Community Veteran Housing Development 101 training in partnership with Virginia Community Development Corporation & Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness VWM in January 2014, for Developers and Service Providers to inform about veteran housing needs and available supportive services Focused on Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH)- safe, affordable, community-based housing that provides tenants with the rights of tenancy and links to voluntary and flexible supports and services for people with disabilities who are experiencing homelessness. Permanent supportive housing is a proven, effective means of reintegrating chronically homeless and other highly vulnerable homeless families and individuals into the community by addressing their basic needs for housing and providing ongoing support. (e.g. HUD-VASH vouchers)
