Without such an arrangement, no security patches will be available and that will immediately pose a considerable risk. 7 5 Enhance YOUR Operations and Maintenance Efficiencies Key performance upgrades: + + Windows 7 takes less time to install than Windows XP; this is enabled by its installation technology, known as ImageX. + + ImageX allows you to easily recover the active partition by remotely re-imaging from the recovery image. Windows 7 makes this simpler by including a utility called directaccess, which is an always on VPN. This removes the added cost and complexity of deploying extra third party utilities for this purpose. For remote ATMs, this gives the choice to connect via low cost broadband or mobile for off premise without the need for an extra vpn utility. 08

9 7 Benefit from Stability and Longevity Microsoft will be supporting Windows 7 until at least This period of stability and longevity is important in the ATM business where significant capital equipment purchases are expected to take several years to depreciate prior to ultimate replacement. Windows 7 is the ideal solution because of support promised for at least six years beyond the end of life of Windows XP. Any operating system that cannot remain in support for at least a full lifecycle of ATM purchase and depreciation is not ideal for the ATM business. 09
