6 RWSS-MER UNIT AT THE MINISTRY Two Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (MER) Officers managed by Principal Engineer Support the rollout of MIS Capacity build at National, Provincial and District levels Analysis of data for Government use Design of tools and approaches Support harmonization of M&E tools Production of progress reports

7 MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM Objective: A web based RWSS that will provide real time RWSS information for planning, monitoring and decision making at district, provincial and national levels 28 districts use DHIS2 CLTS RWSS MIS Upscaling to all 92 Districts Inclusion of water supply

8 DHIS2 OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE - Developed by University of Oslo - Initially in Zambia used for health data first time used for sanitation data - Automatically aggregates data through the geographic hierarchy - Provides rapid feedback to field staff; identifies slower communities - Has encouraged additional donor support (extension for EU + AfDB funded programmes in additional districts) - A risk of high maintenance cost
