5 INTRODUCTION This mobile mounting system supports video applications including video conferencing and presentations by safely supporting large-format single (42 80 ) or dual (42 70 ) screens. Electronic AV equipment can be mounted in the base and in the main column to support the application, or in the optional 12U rackspace. Accessories are available including storage and speaker mounts. Refer to OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES on page 8 for more information. 13 REAR ACCESS PANEL INSTALLATION / REMOVAL 1. Rear access panels lift and tilt out. (FIGURE A) 2. Re-install rear access panels in the reverse manner. 14 RACK INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL (-R MODELS ONLY) 1) Remove (2) 6-32 x 3/8 flat head screws securing rear horizontal trim panel to VTC and slide out. (FIGURE C) NOTE: Remove squaring panels from rack only after the first rackmount component has been installed. 15 SCREEN ACCESS PANEL REMOVAL / INSTALLATION 1. Remove topmost rear access panel (Refer to REAR ACCESS PANEL INSTALLATION / REMOVAL on page 13). 2. Unfasten (4) wingnuts securing screen access panel to VTC and remove from rear. (FIGURE F) 3. Re-install screen access panel in the reverse manner. Remove screen access panel (Refer to SCREEN ACCESS PANEL REMOVAL / INSTALLATION above). 2. Lift and tilt front panels out, always beginning with the top-most panel. (FIGURE G) 3. Install options and configure front panels as needed. 4. Re-install front panels in the reverse manner. FIGURE G Page 15

16 FLAT PANEL INSTALLATION 1) Select desired height and mount horizontal mounting bracket to VTC using (4) 5/16-18 Hex Head Monitor Mount Bolts and (4) 5/16-18 Flange Nuts. (FIGURE H) NOTE: When installing horizontal mounting bracket, stops must face up NOTE: 1/2 Socket Required NOTE: Screen Access Panel may need to be removed to facilitate flat panel installation. Refer to SCREEN ACCESS PANEL REMOVAL / INSTALLATION on page 14. Monitor Mount Bolts 5/16-18 Hex Head (4) Horizontal Mounting Bracket FIGURE H Flange Nuts 5/16-18 (2) Selecting The Mounting Hardware To Attach Brackets To Flat Panel 1) Identify the correct diameter screw for the flat panel threaded inserts. The correct screws should thread easily and not pull out when tension is applied. 2) To determine proper screw length, insert thread depth indicator into a threaded insert on the flat panel. 3) Mark the thread depth indicator 1/8 above the depth of the threaded insert. (FIGURE I) 4) Select a screw that is shorter than the 1/8 mark made on the thread depth indicator. 17 FLAT PANEL INSTALLATION (CONTINUED) NOTES: Place flat panel on soft, flat surface while working. Do not place excessive pressure on back of the flat panel. Universal washers must be installed between the head of the mounting screw and the vertical mounting bracket as shown. (FIGURE J) Dimples (Face Up) M8 M6 M5 M4 Nylon Spacers Nylon spacers add distance between vertical mounting bracket and flat panel. They will fit all supplied screw sizes. The spacers must be used only when attaching flat panels which have: Recessed mount points Uneven mount points Any obstruction near the mount points A curved back NOTES: Nylon Spacers must be stacked and oriented as shown. Nylon Spacers must only be installed between the vertical mounting bracket and the flat panel. Mounting Screw Universal Washer Mounting Bracket Flat Panel Nylon Spacer Mount Point Attaching Vertical Mounting Brackets to Flat Panel NOTE: Be sure to observe the up arrow on each vertical mounting bracket to maintain the proper orientation of the flat panel. (FIGURE K) 1) Place the flat panel face down on a soft, flat surface and identify the number and location of screws. 2) Align the holes on each vertical mounting bracket with the threaded inserts on the flat panel. NOTE: To ensure neat appearance, center vertical mounting brackets on flat panel. Do not extend brackets past top or bottom of flat panel. 3) Secure each vertical mounting bracket with the screws and hardware identified in previous steps. 18 FLAT PANEL INSTALLATION (CONTINUED) WARNING This operation requires two people. Do not release your flat panel until you are certain that the top hook of each vertical mounting bracket is securely seated on the upper rail of the horizontal mounting bracket. Hanging the Flat Panel Top Hook 1) Remove locking clips from vertical mounting bracket and rotate locking clamps down. (FIGURE L) Locking Screw 2) Raise the flat panel slightly above the top and bottom rails on the horizontal mounting bracket. (FIGURE L) 3) Place the flat panel down slowly, ensuring that the top hook on the vertical mounting bracket properly engages the horizontal mounting bracket. (FIGURE L) 4) Check for proper height. NOTE: Achieving desired height may require repositioning of horizontal mounting bracket and/or removal and re-installation of vertical mounting brackets. Horizontal Mounting Bracket 5) Rotate locking clamps on vertical mounting brackets up and insert locking pins as shown. (FIGURE M) Vertical Mounting Bracket Locking Clamp FIGURE L 6) Position flat panel as needed and tighten (1) one locking screw on each vertical mounting bracket to secure in place. (FIGURE L) NOTE: Installation of locking clamps may require removal of rear door and screen access panel. 19 CAMERA MOUNTING (VTC-4280S / VTC-4280S-R) 1) Place vertical camera mounting bracket onto horizontal monitor mounting bracket, ensuring that the top hook is properly engaged. (FIGURE N) NOTE: Observe the Up arrow to maintain proper orientation of the vertical mounting bracket. 2) Select desired mounting location (FIGURE O) and secure vertical camera mounting bracket to horizontal monitor mounting bracket using (2) locking screws as shown. 21 LEVER LOCK TOOL FREE INTERNAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The VTC Series comes equipped with the following Lever Lock items: (4) LL receptacle brackets, (2) LL-HC21 horizontal channels, and (1) LL-VP2110 vertical 10 deep plate. Use Horizontal Channels To Manage Cables Use Receptacle Brackets To Lace Cable Bundles From Top To Bottom Use Vertical Plate To Mount Small Devices Lever Lock Plate Installation / Configuration 1) Insert the Lever Lock plate into the mating slots in the upper horizontal channel. (FIGURE W) 2) Secure lock mechanism into the mating slots in the lower horizontal channel. (FIGURE X) NOTE: Position the flanges to the outside of the rack to maximize usability. Horizontal Channel Installation / Configuration 1) Insert horizontal channels into the mating slots in the side receptacle brackets. Ensure the lock mechanism is facing the bottom of the rack. 22 FRONT HOOD LOCK CYLINDER INSTALLATION 1) Knock out the lock hole on the front hood. (FIGURE AA) 2) Insert the lock cylinder into the front hood and remove the key in a vertical position. (FIGURE CC) 4) Attach the cam to the lock cylinder and secure with screw as shown. 23 POWER STRIP REMOVAL / INSTALLATION 1) Remove Lever Lock plate and horizontal channels as described in LEVER LOCK TOOL FREE INTERNAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM on page 20. 2) Rotate to unlock the (2) plastic thumbscrews securing each side Lever Lock receptacle bracket to VTC. (FIGURE FF) FIGURE FF 3) Remove side Lever Lock receptacle brackets with attached power strip from VTC. 4) Unfasten (2) rectangular nuts securing power strip to rear of side Lever Lock receptacle brackets. (FIGURE GG) 5) Relocate power strip to new location and secure in the reverse manner. 6) To re-install side Lever Lock receptacle brackets, align thumbscrews vertically and push to lock. 24 WARRANTY Middle Atlantic Products (the "Company") warrants the Video Tele-Presence Center VTC Series to be free from defects in material or workmanship under normal use and conditions for the lifetime of the product. The Company's entire liability to the purchaser, and the purchaser's (or any other party's) sole and exclusive remedy, under this warranty shall be limited, at the Company's option, to either (a) return of and refund of the price paid for, or (b) repair or replacement at the Company's factory of the products purchased, or any part or parts thereof, which the Company has determined to be defective after inspection thereof at the Company's factory. This warranty does not cover damage due to acts of God, accident, misuse, abuse or negligence by parties other than the Company, or any modification or alteration of the products. In addition, this warranty does not cover damage due to improper handling, assembly, installation or maintenance. THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR ANY OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF THE PRODUCTS PURCHASED, EVEN IF THE COMPANY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
