6 Transitioning from Type M to Type M-CTE As Type M certificates endorsed in career and technical education are renewed, Teacher Certification will issue the renewed certificate as a Type M-CTE certificate. Renewal requirements for the legacy Type M certificates endorsed in career and technical education will continue to be those described in 4 AAC (The Type M certificate holders will be grandfathered into the requirements in place at the time the certificate was issued.) 6
7 Renewal Requirements for Legacy Type M certificates (Transitioning from Type M to Type M-CTE) Three semester hours of credit -OR- Training or work experience beyond the certified employment with the school district Satisfactory work performance under the limited certificate Request of employing district or AVTEC Fingerprint card (AVTEC applicants only) 7
8 Type M-CTE issued after January 1, 2014 Renewal Requirements Three semester hours of credit related to the applicant s employment or a career & technical education specialty approved by the school district. 135 hours of work experience in the specialty outside of work with students. 13 Application Review & Processing After the first review, an applicant who submitted a fingerprint card with his complete application packet is sent a yellow postcard which can be used to verify that a complete application is on file with our office. If an applicant s background clearance is delayed more than 120 days, the applicant will be issued a conditional teacher certificate until such time as the background clearance is 13 complete.
14 Application Review & Processing After the second review and background clearance is complete, an applicant will be issued the appropriate certificate. Applicants also receive additional copies of their certificates that should be 14 provided to their school district.
