MAIN FEATURES Architecture Software-based storage virtualization system designed for providing secondary storage space for files. It is tiered, distributed and policy-based, and supports standard servers (Nodes) and any kind of storage technology. Data from the logical spaces (Shares) are placed in the physical storage (Pools) by the policies. Tiered Storage Policy-based tiering based on data retention. Oldest data is moved to deeper disk or tape storage. Distributed Storage nodes can be installed in various locations on the network. A set of connected nodes is called a Circle. The shares are accessible from any node. Replication The number and location of the physical copies are defined by the storage policies, according to the required level of protection against failures or disasters. Integrity Check Data integrity check using electronic signatures and comparison with the original. Based on MD5 or SHA-1 algorithm. Global namespaces A share can be physically distributed but remains a single logical namespace. A distributed lock manager ensures data consistency.
