2 Bachelors of Science in Nursing MISSION The mission of Millers College of Nursing is to prepare the next generation of nursing professionals. PHILOSOPHY OF NURSING The philosophy of Millers College of Nursing is to develop knowledgeable nurses with an understanding of the human condition, a passion for the nursing profession, and a desire to positively contribute to the world around them. The college strives to empower students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership, and care for persons, the community, and the earth. GOAL To provide quality nursing education with a strong emphasis on critical thinking as well as to offer and assist the nurse graduates with the application of didactic material necessary for the success of the NCLEX-examination. To provide access for students in the Central Florida area an opportunity to earn a Bachelor s Degree. The Millers College of Nursing program was designed to prepare prospective nursing students for success on the National Council of Licensure Examination (NCLEX). We believe that our program will provide the student with a solid foundation to successfully pass the exam and this will truly be beneficial to any aspiring nursing candidate. We strive to bring out the best in all of our students and settle for nothing less. With the hours and dedication you put into Millers College of Nursing (MCN), you will be fully prepared and ready to take on the medical field confidently. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES The objective to the BSN program is to provide individuals with the opportunity to complete a baccalaureate degree. Upon completion of this program, graduates may apply for the registered nurse (RN) licensure examination. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The Nursing program is a pre-licensure program designed for the individual who desires to become a registered nurse and earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. The student may receive upper division nursing credit depending on previous education. Each applicant s transcripts will be reviewed to evaluate prior academic activities. It is recognized that students possess certain requisite knowledge, skill, and opportunities are divided to validate prior learning in pathophysiology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, fundamentals of nursing, care of the older adult, and human development. Efforts are made to facilitate the student s progression through the program in the most efficient, economical, effective and equitable way. It is possible for the student to complete the program in a minimum of five and one half semesters (18-20 months) pending timely and successful completion of credits by examination and required course work. 2 P a g e

The cost of the program is $18, not including the $ application fee. Expenses included into tuition are one uniform set, student activity fees, malpractice insurance and lab fees. Additional uniforms may be purchased by the student. Equipment is not included in the tuition cost. Tuition and fees are subject to change. Please refer to the Admissions Office each term for current tuition and fee information. MCN offers affordable payment options for the cost of your education. 11 Miller s class exam: All students are required to take our class exam prior to attending clinicals. You will be given 2 opportunities to pass the exam.passing score is a %75 or higher. If you are not successful on your exam, you must be remediated in our next scheduled course before moving on to clinicals. If you decide not to proceed, your exam fee, dvd & cd package of $150 will not be refunded. You must submit copies of: All clinical paper work is due the first day of each class. Driver s license Current CPR card PPD(within last 6 months)- If positive, must have chest x-ray 10 Drug test (within 30 days of clinicals)- If positive, must have an MRO Background check (Through Pre-check only) Lab values for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella & hep B Mask fit test ( scheduled by Miller s staff) Physical (within last 6 months) NSO insurance Student badge agreement form( given by Miller s staff) All Clinical dates are posted on our website: Clinicals are held on Saturday and Sunday from 7am-7pm for 4 consecutive weekends. Please do not miss any days, as you will not have an opportunity to make them up. Clinicals are from 7am-7pm, you must arrive at the hospital by 6:45am All students are given 1 hour lunch break Uniform: Must wear the Miller s polo shirt, black scrub pants and white tennis shoes.
