EDITORIAL BY THE MANAGING DIRECTOR The MATIS Group has become a benchmark in the fields of consultancy and engineering in innovative technologies. The Group places its collective intelligence at the service of its clients so that they may succeed in their key technological challenges. We are currently going through a period of economic and environmental crisis, and yet technological change continues to come at a faster and faster pace and is structuring our world. We have therefore chosen to develop our offering in such a way that it provides sustainable solutions for our clients own innovations, ensuring that technology is here to serve mankind. For this commitment to be complete and consistent, we have given ourselves the day-to-day responsibility of acting in an environmentally friendly way. Our rules of management and of individual behaviour and our choices of equipment and investments have to fit systematically into an eco-responsible approach. Over the last few years the challenges of sustainable development have been at the heart of our undertakings. This first report will give you an insight into the foundations of this approach! I hope you enjoy reading it. Christian ROGER -4-

THE MATIS GROUP SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AN UNDERTAKING Well aware of the challenges facing the key accounts in the industrial, tertiary and telecoms sectors, MATIS has undertaken to become a benchmark provider by offering a sustainable, value-added partnership. The Group s firm focus on innovative technologies has contributed to this growth and progress. MATIS has always been driven by three priorities in its development: Supporting clients to help them respond to the realities of the 21 st century Respecting staff members through intelligent relationships Controlling the Group s environmental impacts MATIS adhered to the United Nations Global Compact in 2012, and this first sustainable development report illustrates this commitment. It also reflects 18 years of responsible research, innovation and investments. A PROCEDURE The Group s activities are focused on customer satisfaction. We use our strong capacity for technological innovation to help fulfil the sustainable development objectives of our clients. Successful attainment of these objectives then enables us to grow our business and hence succeed in our own approach. MATIS commitment to a Sustainable Development procedure requires a sound understanding of all the issues and impacts related to the Group s activity. These impacts may be direct or indirect, positive or negative. This Sustainable Development Report faithfully reflects our vision and puts our associated objectives into words. 8 THE 3 PILLARS ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT The environment is the central theme of Sustainable Development and naturally lies at the heart of the MATIS undertaking. Whether they are direct or indirect, all the impacts of our activity need to be analyzed, understood and controlled. Our risk management skills acquired through our engineering business are now placed at the service of Sustainable Development in order to pinpoint and anticipate our effects and their consequences. This chapter presents our impacts on the environment and the actions implemented to reduce them. was drafted and signed by all employees. Hybrid vehicles were integrated in the fleet, such as the Toyota Yaris which emits a mere 79g/km* of CO 2. The first hybrid cars joined the MATIS fleet in the course of 2012 and have proved to be highly popular among staff. ADDRESSING DIRECT IMPACTS IS AN EASY, CONTROLLABLE PROCEDURE In 2011 the company vehicles used by Matis Benelux emitted an average of 4,880 kg of CO 2 each at a rate of 115.5g/km. With the aim of reducing this impact, a Car Policy governing the use of company vehicles Photo of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid * Data from the Toyota website Toyota.fr A FEW WORDS WITH G. ROGER Managing Director of Matis Benelux Our fleet comprises around a hundred company vehicles, and most of our staff work in a situation of regular urban mobility. It was only natural for us to integrate hybrid vehicles into the fleet, as we are well aware of their positive environmental impact associated with a sustainable economic dimension. These vehicles are high-performing, less polluting, quiet, and emit less CO ² than standard cars. The extra investment made is offset by attractive tax breaks. -8-
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT For the last few years MATIS employees have been provided with videoconferencing systems for communication between the Group s various entities. Remote conferencing makes a substantial contribution to reducing the number of trips made by employees and the Management. This means of communication also allows staff to keep more closely in touch with each other. by every level of the company to ensure that it is adhered to and properly implemented. The challenges taken up by MATIS are collaborative and collective: our day-to-day actions contribute to compliance with our undertakings, and all the company s personnel are committed to this mission. We are addressing our impacts by reducing our C0 2 emissions caused by energy consumption, and at the same time encouraging more regular communication. A Sustainable Development policy needs to be driven DAILY ECO-GESTURES REFLECT A COLLABORATIVE AND COLLECTIVE ENGAGEMENT -9-
THE 3 PILLARS ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT Numerous actions have been put in place in recent years at MATIS Deutschland in order to reduce our environmental footprint: A waste sorting system in each office to make each employee s organization and tasks easier, MATIS ENCOURAGES ENERGY SAVINGS IN ORDER TO COMBAT WASTAGE OF NATURAL RESOURCES Tap water consumption has fallen constantly since the provision of water fountains, which also offer employees greater comfort, The use of eco-responsible cleaning products has also limited substances that are dangerous for the environment and human health. A FEW WORDS WITH S. STEMPIAN Managing Director of Matis Deutschland With the company s in-house rules, employees are urged to be civic-minded: Documents should only be printed when absolutely necessary. They should also be reused as much as possible for note-taking before being destroyed. Staff are also required to switch off all lights in unused rooms and not to use standby mode on their computers. Day-to-day eco-gestures are simple, responsible, effective and economical. They contribute to Sustainable Development, an environmentally friendly philosophy, and respect for others. -10-

AN INNOVATIVE PROJECT - TILTER Between 2010 and 2012 and with the support of the ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency), MATIS developed the innovative TILTER prototype led by SynergEthic. Designed to meet the requirements of daily use in cities and suburbs, this is a vehicle that stands out from the rest in terms of its definition, its features and its performances. The TILTER is a narrow two-seater 100% electric vehicle. Due to its narrow width it requires an integral mechatronic inclination system controlled by the vehicle s computer. Despite 90kg of batteries, its specifically designed engine provides it with the performances of an urban car: Km/h in 12 seconds and a top speed of 110km/h. Battery autonomy of over 100km has been reached with 8Kwh of onboard power and work on dissipative energies. Tilter and its control and traction supervision parts were designed in the MATIS design office. On display at the Geneva fair in 2011, the road-going prototype was then developed through to the end of Photo of the Tilter prototype on display at the 2011 Geneva show A FEW WORDS WITH L. CASUBOLO R&T Project Manager It is necessary to combine energy vectors in order to satisfy increasing consumption requirements. The efficiency of this complex network is based on optimization of energy management, a major development priority spearheaded by the MATIS Group. -14-
ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE A necessary energy revolution is underway, affecting all industrial sectors and clients of MATIS. On the strength of this observation and with the aim of providing solutions, MATIS is developing skills in the field of modelling and simulation of complex energy systems. MATIS SERVES INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES BY PROVIDING SKILLS, EXPERTISE AND KNOWLEDGE The target is to investigate and understand various technologies relating to energy: storage, transport, Consulted in a variety of cross-sector fields, MATIS pays particular attention to eco-responsible projects. 18 MATIS IS A RESPONSIBLE COMPANY THAT ABIDES TO ITS UNDERTAKINGS CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR A SMART WORLD -18-
THE 3 PILLARS SOCIAL COMMITMENT The last section of this first Sustainable Development Report addresses the social commitments of the company. The MATIS undertakings are those of a socially fair, intergenerational, sustainable company. Ethics are one of the company s fundamental values. The MATIS recruitment process advocates equal opportunities: competencies and life skills are the two main criteria in hiring policy. In 2012 the MATIS Benelux workforce ranged from 24 to 54 years of age. The intergenerational nature of the company facilitates the integration and training of young graduates as they come into contact with experienced consultants who have capitalized their knowledge. The age bracket is the most highly represented, with 66% of the total headcount. In 2011 MATIS Technologies employed 855 people, 70% of whom were engineers. MATIS does not discriminate between men and women in its hiring procedures. The percentage of women engineers hired is in line with the figures published by the engineering schools. With the aim of developing skills and furthering the careers of employees, Matis Benelux set up a training program in June Six sessions have been dispensed on themes such as time management, assertive communication and stress management. In all, 116 employees have already benefited from this program. MATIS HAS MADE TRAINING ENTITLEMENT ONE OF ITS COMMITMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES -19-
THE 3 PILLARS SOCIAL COMMITMENT The approach initiated by MATIS also involves societal commitments. MATIS therefore uses service providers that respect the values of the 3 Sustainable Development pillars. With economic and environmental realities in mind, MATIS has decided to lease its computer equipment. This method offers the best optimization of needs and the recycling of components at the end of their life. The MATIS Technologies partner company is Econocom, which has ratified the United Nations Global Compact, for the supply of its computer equipment. MATIS is also part of the Green World Alliance program by Xerox. This is a partnership for the collection, reuse and recycling of printer consumables in order to minimize their impact on the environment. respect, MATIS has turned to the French Association for Disabled Adults and Young People (APAJH) which employs more than 500 disabled employees in the Paris region. The Jacques Monod ESAT organization for the disabled in the town of Antony carries out work at company headquarters, managing the green spaces. A FEW WORDS WITH E. LALLIER Systems and Networks Manager Our IT management system is economically interesting in that it supports our growth and meets our expectations, and it is also ecoresponsible. It offers the possibility of using the latest, more environmentally friendly technologies, guarantees proper recycling management, and avoids wastage. Our IT systems governance orientation is resolutely sustainable and responsible In social terms, MATIS contributes to the integration of disabled people into the professional world. In this MATIS also uses the skills and expertise of the Pénélope Agency Group for the company s reception staff. The group s social commitments include a hiring policy that prohibits discrimination and offers equal opportunities to each applicant, irrespective of colour, size, age, origin, disabilities or religion. The Pénélope Agency Group is a signatory of the company s diversity charter. -20-
SOCIAL INDICATORS INDICATORS SO1 Social and intergenerational reality pyramid: Based on recruitment data, this indicator shows the company s desire to hire different profiles offering the skills required for the development and stability of the company. SO2 Representation of mobility: Built using employees flow data, this indicator confirms that the company is stable and can grow and reach its objectives. SO3 Evaluation of training time: Using training figures, this indicator is designed to confirm the ambition to further employees career paths by providing them with training courses. SO4 - Occupational accidents ratio: The purpose of this indicator is to measure the frequency and seriousness of occupational accidents in order to guarantee the well-being of employees and the continuity of work without disruption. -21-
MATIS WILL CONTINUE TO DESIGN FOR THE PRESENT AND INNOVATE FOR THE FUTURE, IN LINE WITH THE OBJECTIVES THAT HAVE BEEN DECIDED UPON CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR A SMART WORLD -22-
GLOBAL COMPACT A SIGNIFICANT COMMITMENT ADHESION TO THE UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT As a significant signal of its commitment to sustainable development, MATIS adhered to the United Nations Global Compact in July In this way MATIS supports the ten principles of this pact focusing on human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.
