1 Michigan Geological Survey Report 10 from the K-12 Outreach Director, Peter Voice [May 23, 2014] New Items: 1. May 9: Contacted by Katie Bir, Sturgis District Library I sent her copies of our brochures and a short description of the program. 2. May 9: Sarah Bruha, Auburn Elementary School sent me additional information for her scheduled school visit (76 students). 3. May 9: Renewed my membership with the National Science Teachers Association (Membership: $75.00) 4. May 9: I was contacted by Brittany Chunn (Program Manager, University of Michigan Museum of Natural History) to discuss possible collaborations. They would like us to help out with their Geology Day events (currently scheduled for Nov. 19, 2014 and March 18, They get ~ students for each day (Mostly 2 nd -6 th grade level). I expressed interest and told her that I would get back to her once we figured out our funding situation for next year. 5. May 9: Presented Report 9 to the Survey Committee. 6. May 12: Contacted by Anessa Martin (Polk Elementary School, Dearborn Heights) with regard to scheduling an event. I had previously contacted her with dates, unfortunately the date she picked was already booked, so we are still working on scheduling her class visit. a. Scheduled a school visit to Polk Elementary School for May 30 th. 6 sessions of 3 rd grade. Michigan Geologic History Module. 168 students. 7. May 12: Contacted by Shada Biabani (Michigan Aggregate Association), who thanked me for sending another teacher contact to her. 8. May 20: Received feedback forms from both the Greater Heights Academy visit on May 8 and the Upton Middle School visit on May a. Updated metrics for Module scores 9. May 20: Finished scheduling Polk Elementary School visit after confirming enough staff to handle two events on May May 20: Contacted by Pnina Ari-Gur who wanted to schedule a MGRRE visit for her Summer Camp students (6 th grade and up, some time the week of June 23). I am waiting to hear back from her on specific details. 11. May 20: Additional responses on attendance to the MGRRE Online Education Portal Workshop II: Matthew Baleja (Paw Paw Public Schools), Keith Lang (Sturgis High School), Julie Young (Loy Norrix High School), Jenni Snider (Marshall Greene Middle School), and Pam Opolsky (Academy of International Studies).
