1 Page 1 The IoT s application to protect your family 1. Internet of Things at Home In recent years, Internet has grown very quickly, it had changed everything in our lives. It helps people in the world connect, share everything with each other easily. For example, people can connect with each other through social networks like Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter,... Or people can share information with each other by sharing videos via Youtube or share photos via Instagram. We call it the Internet of people. Today, Internet is no longer confined in the connection between people, it transforms to a new connection, everything can be connected together via the Internet, we call it Internet of Things, where the electronic devices we use every day has been added a new technology like the sensor, software and connection help them enable to share information with each other through the network without any human intervention. Internet of Things current was applied to areas such as: Home, Transport, Health, Building and Cities. However, until now, the Home field is the most visible representative of Internet of Thing. According to research resources and development opportunities of the areas applies Internet of Thing as follows: (

2 Page 2 Look at the picture above, we see that the field of Home is growing rapidly. As predicted by Harbor Research: the Home market will develop 127% for the next 3 years. Moreover, in 2020 there will be over 3 billion devices are used in Home field. With these numbers, we see great potential for the Internet of Things in the Home field is. The fact that the technology giants like Apple, Google and Samsung are pushing to invest in this field. For example: Apple presents ihome and Apple Watch and Apple Watch is the control panel to connect with the ihome devices. Google acquires Nest with $ 3.2 billion worth, Nest is a company specializing in device temperature control and smoke sensors for households, this is one of Google's biggest deal since they bought YouTube in 2006 with price is only a half. Or Samsung is ready to become one of the biggest names in the smart home industry, when they decided to buy SmartThings worth $ 200 million. 2. FPT Home Security System Internet of Things market began to take off and it led many areas to have a rapid development, especially in the Home field that we have discussed above. Because of that, FPT Telecom will participate in the market of Internet of Thing, in Home sector with the project names Home Security System. a. What is Home Security System? Home Security System is a network consists of devices operate and interact with each other through a device names Control Panel to detect intrusions or detect potential threats in your house (such as smoke, fire, gas, flooding,...). Each component in the Home Security System only provide some information, but when all components connect together, it would create Home Security System with full protection and security for your house.

3 Page 3 b. How Home Security works? First, FPT Home Security System includes following devices: Control Panel: this is the central device in the customer's house. It will manage and connect different devices together through a wireless network. In addition it also has the following features: Allow remote access to control and manage Home Security system through mobile applications and Web applications. Have backup battery when Control Panel loses power. Have 3G option: if the Internet connection is lost, the control panel will automatically switch to 3G to connect to the system. Door and Window Sensors: the sensor device for the door or window. When there are open / close events from the door or window, the sensor will send a signal to the Control Panel via the wireless network. The device is battery-operated and battery life is up to 2 years. Motion Sensor: the infrared sensor, it can detect movements in a certain range. The device is battery-operated and battery life is up to 3 years. Camera Detector: This is a camera that has appended the infrared sensor to detect movements in a certain range. When Camera Detector detects movements, it will automatically capture multiple images and send to the Control Panel via wireless network. The device is battery-operated and battery life is up to 1 year. Smoke Sensor: sensor detects smoke. The device is battery-operated and battery life is up to 2 years.

4 Page 4 Flood Sensor: device warns the water leak and the device is battery-operated and battery life is up to 2 years. Siren: siren device. When one of sensor devices detects something, it will transmit data to the Control Panel, then Control Panel will activate the Siren to whistle. The device is battery-operated and battery life is up to 2 years. The Home Security System will operate as following steps: Step 1: Monitor and detect any changes in the house: If one of the sensor devices in the house detects any change (for example Door / Window was opened, or the movement of a person, or there is a water leak or smoke detector), then it will send data to the Control Panel via wireless network. Step 2: Send an alarm signal to Home Security System In this step, the Control Panel will analyze the data sent by the sensor device. Then the Control Panel will activate the Siren to whistle, while the Control Panel will send the data to the FPT Home Security System via the internet. If the internet connection is lost, then Control Panel will automatically switch to the 3G network to send data.

5 Page 5 Step 3: Push the alarm signal to customers FPT Home Security Systems will receive an alarm from the Control Panel, then the system will analyze the data and will perform two simultaneously actions by pushing the following signals: Push notification to customers via the Mobile App or Web App. Push alarm signal to the FPT Monitoring System.

6 Page 6 Step 4: Customer support FPT Monitoring System will monitor the alarm signals from customers. When FPT Monitoring System receives an alarm signal from FPT Home Security System, the system will analyze and handle the situation immediately, such as calling to customer to confirm. If customers need support, the system will contact the police, fire or other emergency units to support customers. c. The outstanding features of the FPT Home Security System Communicate with each other via wireless network. All device in Home Security System connect and communicate with each other via a wireless network. With this feature, the device can be easily set up in the house, without unsightly wiring. Monitor and control your house from everywhere With Mobile Application, you can monitor and receive notifications from everything happening in your house wherever you are. Safety and reliability All devices operate on batteries and batteries have a lifespan at least one year. And when battery is almost empty, the system will send alerts to customers, so customers can replace the battery. In addition, the Control Panel have the Sim 3G for backup, if the Internet connection is lost, the Control Panel will automatically switch to 3G to connect to the system. Support monitoring and handle alarm signal quickly FPT Monitoring System operate 24/24 and handle an alarm singal that can be a threat in your house.

7 Page 7 Customers not only monitor their house via mobile app or web app, Monitoring System aslo supports to handle emergency situations. This is specially important when customers are not at home or travel. d. The expansion for FPT Home Security System in future In the future, FPT Home Security System will be expanded to add the following features: Interact more security devices for FPT Home Security System Project: Home Security is a basic package in SmartHome, so in the future FPT Home Security System will interact more specialized equipment in SmartHome, so the system will become more comprehensive. Face Recognition: this is the exciting features that will be integrated into FPT Home Security System in the future. When somebody at home, the system will recognize the face, then the system will take the corresponding action, such as identify which people, then announce to the members of the family or the system will activate alarm if the person is not in the list of family members. In addition, FPT Telecom desires Home Security will be integrated into the set-top-box of FPT Telecom, to increase usability and reduce costs for customers.
