Kennesaw State s Master of Science in International Policy Management offers students the opportunity to acquire the analytical tools needed to grasp the complexities encountered in today s global work setting. Housed in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs, the MSIPM provides advanced academic skills for understanding the changing scope of international policy. This master s degree prepares leaders in the private and public sectors for the interaction between political and economic dynamics in this era of globalization. Students learn how to assess political risk, better interpret the global regulatory environment and deal with cultural nuances in negotiations. The MSIPM program uses a cohort or learning-community style of course delivery. Students begin as a group in the fall semester of year one and complete the program by May of year two. Since courses are offered in a predetermined sequence, students can finish the program in 20 months. 3

4 Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program KSU is a Peace Corps Fellows/USA partner university, and the MSIPM is a recognized degree within this partnership. If you are a returned Peace Corps Volunteer with two years of service, you can combine your academic and professional endeavors with the opportunity to work in underserved communities. Peace Corps Fellows receive tuition assistance in the fall and spring semesters plus a monthly stipend. Selection of Fellows is competitive, and applicants are selected by university-wide committee which operates independently from our MSIPM admissions process. Student Spotlight I end up doing much of my work on airplanes as I spend almost fifty percent of my time in the Middle East and Africa. Working full time and traveling, I could not be successful without online access to the coursework. Over the last two semesters, I have negotiated the implementation of training programs in two countries in the Middle East and developed and hosted a multilateral workshop on counter-terrorism and border security involving seven West African countries. In each case, I have been able to utilize the knowledge gained from my coursework to affect positive outcomes. Walter Sansot, MSIPM Orientation At the beginning of the first semester, MSIPM students will attend a mandatory orientation on campus that focuses on program expectations, interaction with faculty and administrators, and hands-on learning with our distance-learning technology platform used in the program.

Our faculty members hold advanced degrees from such acclaimed universities as George Washington University, Vanderbilt University, Johns Hopkins University, Emory University, the University of Paris, the University of Mumbai and American University. Their research and publication areas include regional cooperation, international water resource and environmental policy, international refugee policy, international political economy, international law and organization, trade negotiations, the politics of international terrorism and more. Faculty research interests span the globe to include specialties on the European Union, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Asia especially China and India. 7 Admission Requirements To be considered for admission to the Master of Science in International Policy Management, applicants must submit the following credentials to the KSU Graduate Admissions Office through an online application process: 1. An application to the Graduate Admission Office and a non-refundable fee; 2. Official transcripts from each institution of higher education attended, except KSU, and submit official graduate transcripts if from a previously completed graduate degree or if enrolled in another graduate degree; 3. Official GRE or GMAT scores. GRE students must take the verbal, quantitative and analytical sections. Scores should be sent directly to KSU; 4. An application letter outlining your goals for work in the program, including a rationale for why/how this program will meet your professional needs; 5. A writing sample of approximately five pages, which may come from previous course work at the undergraduate or graduate level, or from professional (work-related) writing; 6. Two letters of recommendation; 7. Official TOEFL or IELTS scores. This requirement is for international students only. Scores should be sent directly to KSU.
