1 Position Description: Member Business Services, Commercial Loan Officer Department: Member Business Services Division: Lending FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Syracuse Revised: February 2015 Purpose: I. To promote and sell Credit Union products and services to potential and existing business members. II. Interviews present and potential members and evaluates commercial loans following the guidelines established by AmeriCU l Member Business Services Loan Policy. III. Manages all aspects of assigned portfolio of t Member Business Services relationships. Roles and Responsibilities: A. Meets with current and prospective members applying for business loans or any other services offered by the Member Business Services Department. B. Must be able to identify the business need(s) and make recommendations as to the most appropriate financing and/or other solution(s) to fully meet this need or needs. Processes member requests for financing. C. Requests and evaluates all required information provided by the business borrower necessary to initiate an underwriting request. The Commercial Loan Officer will ensure that the financial condition of the business borrower is strong enough to support debt service obligations associated with the loan request. D. Prepares term sheets, as necessary, to send to prospective borrowers. E. Delivers required documents and submits new loan requests to MBS Sales Manager for review and then MBS Senior Credit Officer for underwriting. F. Prepares commitment letters on approved loans and discusses with borrowers. G. Answers questions relating to business loans and services. H. Manages a portfolio of existing business credit relationships. I. Initiates annual reviews of borrower term financing, as required per policy, and annual renewals of lines of credit, as necessary. J. Responsible for addressing member account issues and problems and involving the Coordinator, Member Business Services, when necessary. K. In conjunction with the MBS Senior Credit Officer ensures that assigned loans are in compliance with commercial loan policy. L. Contacts delinquent commercial loan accounts to request payment. M. Makes written and oral reports for Board, staff and other employees. N. Attends meetings as scheduled and applicable within the credit union. Attends outside meetings and seminars.

2 O. Cross-sells and promotes AmeriCU services to the members of the community. Represents AmeriCU in the community (i.e. trade and service organizations). P. Devotes the time required to get the job done. This will include some evenings and weekends. Q. MISCELLANEOUS: Performs all other related duties as assigned. TEAMWORK: Builds and maintains an effective working relationship with all members of the Select Business Department and other AmeriCU departments. Coordinates and integrates departmental work activities with other management team members work activities. Leads teams and other work groups to carry out departmental/divisional projects. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manages projects. Utilizes the Action Plan Process to facilitate project planning and implementation including an assessment of resources required, costs, benefits, timelines, implementation schedules, and evaluation. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Develop departmental budget in collaboration with direct reports. Prepare and review divisional and departmental budget operating reports and reconcile variance; approve and ensure timely payment of invoices. STAFF DEVELOPMENT: Assists direct reports in identifying technical skill(s) and ability developmental needs. Works to ensure that Department staff has technical skills and abilities and developmental opportunities, such as workshops, seminars, etc. to meet current and anticipated needs. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Monitor and identify personal/ professional development needs and maintains staff's capabilities consistent with the organization s management philosophy and values through special project assignments, technical workshops and seminars; reading, reflection, course work, and management development opportunities and activities. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: Works directly with staff to establish performance goals and objectives consistent with the organization s strategic framework. Supervises and supports staff and conducts regular meetings (at least quarterly) and annual performance reviews. E-COMMERCE: Works in coordination with other middle managers to develop, implement, and monitor the overall E-commerce plan from a secondary market perspective. Supports current and future E-commerce activities, services and products (i.e., web-based services, such as online bill payment). COMMUNICATION: Facilitates departmental staff meetings on a weekly basis or as needed. Provides relevant information to staff in a timely and consistent manner. Models communication actions consistent with department communication commitments. CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP: Represents the Credit Union in a leadership position at appropriate internal events, professional organizations, and community events/programs. COMPLIANCE: Acquires and maintains the necessary working knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations and Credit Union bylaws and policies, in order to ensure compliance when selling Credit Union services and products. Work is subject to review

3 and/or audit on a no-notice basis by Management, Supervisory Committee, auditors and/or examiners. PROFESSIONALISM: Must display a pleasant, professional manner and positive attitude on the job and follow guidelines established in the Credit Union's Policy Manual, including the Code of Ethics, Telecommunications Policy, dress code and attendance areas. SAFETY: Instructs and monitors employees in the proper use of safety/ergonomic equipment and ensure all safety/ergonomic rules and procedures are followed. Reports defects in work area or equipment promptly. Reports To: This position reports to the Member Business Services, Sales Manager. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor s Degree in Business, Accounting or a related field of study or possesses equivalent work experience. Experience: Has an established track record of business loan growth. Experience: Minimum seven years recent experience as a commercial and/or mortgage lender/relationship manager for a bank or credit union. Ability to systematically gather read and analyze financial data. Proven sales skills/ability. Industry knowledge: Knowledge of laws and regulations governing commercial lending and collection practices. Organizational: Ability to prioritize, organize time and work independently. Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent listening skills. Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet use required to produce reports and presentations. Physical requirements: Must be able to travel to all Financial Center locations on an as needed basis. Other: A proven record of confidentiality at a high level is required. Ability to prioritize, organize time and to work independently.
