4 ALCANZANDO EL MUNDO PARA CRISTO REACHING THE WORLD FOR CHRIST The Master s Seminary FEATURE The Master s Seminary is excited to announce that beginning this fall we are launching a master of divinity (M.Div.) degree program for Spanish speakers. If you re wondering why Spanish, the answer is simple demographics. Spanish is the second-most common language on the planet, with more than 400 million Spanish speakers scattered across the globe. About fifty million of those Spanish speakers are in the United States, and around seven million are right here in the greater Los Angeles area. We know Christ gave His life to ransom people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation (Revelation 5:9). And it s incumbent upon us, in turn, to reach the nations for Christ (Matthew 28:19). Here in our own corner of Los Angeles, God has not only brought the Spanish-speaking nations to us, but He has given us the opportunity to train pastors who can be sent back out to the hundreds of millions of people in twenty-two countries whose official language is Spanish. The harvest is ripe across Latin America. The Spanish-speaking church is embracing evangelicalism like never before. Since the Protestant Reformation was largely confined to Europe, it is only recently that large numbers of Latin Americans have begun leaving Roman Catholicism and joining evangelical churches. And since many of these churches are new and immature, the need for sound doctrine could not be more critical. We believe the Lord has raised us up for this very hour, in order that He might build up His church throughout Latin America and the world through properly trained pastors who can rightly divide His Word of Truth in Spanish. Please pray for us and the students who will be coming this fall. Pray that God would give us wisdom as we teach, disciple, and, ultimately, send them out to exalt Christ in the Spanish-speaking world. For more information, please visit tms.edu/es.
