1 An Agreement for Institutional Cooperation Between Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) and Riverland Community College (RCC) To Articulate the Transfer of RCC's Associate in Science (A.S.)-Pharmacy Technician Degree Into SMSU's Bachelor of Science Degree in Management: Healthcare Administration Concentration (BSMHC) Sending Institution: Riverland Community College Receiving Institution: Southwest Minnesota State University Statement of Purpose: This agreement is entered into by Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) and Riverland Community College (RCC). The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate credit transfer and provide a smooth transition from one related degree program to another. It is further recognized that the attached appendix or appendices shall describe the required program of study at RCC for admission eligibility to SMSU's Bachelor of Science in Management program with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. This agreement and appendix identifies required and equivalent courses at each institution. Terms and Conditions of Credit Transfer: The evaluation and transfer of earned college credits shall be in full compliance with MnSCU policies and all other state and Federal education policies pertaining to undergraduate credit transfer. Current students and graduates, who have earned degrees from Riverland Community College, shall be eligible for credit evaluation under the terms of this agreement. Program specific requirements and/or required courses are listed and defined in Appendix A of this agreement. Transfer students will be accorded the same standards and criteria for admission to a major degree sequence as SMSU students. Successful completion of the following RCC degrees will be the basis for articulation into SMSU's Bachelor of Science in Management Degree: Associate in Science (A.S.) Degree -Pharmacy Technician: A.S. students will transfer the first two years of course work to the articulated Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program. The completion of the A.S. degree requirements will be determined upon evaluation of the student's official transcript. This will reauire enrollment and success_ful completion of a minimum of 64 semester credit hours (SCH). All applicants accepted for the BS degree programs must fulfill the graduation requirements of the degree granting institution as identified in Appendix A. Joint Admission Option: Students may be admitted to both institutions simultaneously. 1. With joint admissions, students receive a place in Southwest Minnesota State University upon transfer from Riverland Community College if they meet the requirements listed in Appendix A. 2. Students may also: o Concurrently enroll in courses at both institutions. o Have access to advising and other services at both institutions
2 Collaboration Practices: Faculty at both institutions will cooperate in scheduling course offerings in a convenient, flexible manner. The resources of both institutions, including faculty and space, will be used in a manner that enhances the educational opportunities available to students. In addition: 1. Each institution will jointly offer sponsored courses when appropriate. 2. Tuition and fees will be paid to the institution from which the student takes a course as specified in the appendices. 3. Upon student request, and with the consent of an SMSU or RCC advisor, each institution will forward to the other, official copies of transcripts to the relevant Registration Office(s), at no charge to a student actively participating in the jointly articulated program. 4. Both institutions will work together to develop counseling, advising, transcription, registration and financial aid procedures to facilitate concurrent enrollment of students. 5. Both institutions will inform potential students about this program. Articulation Implementation and Agreement Review: The Chief Academic Officer or designee of the collaborating institutions, shall be responsible for implementing this agreement, for identifying and incorporating any changes into subsequent agreements, and for conducting a periodic review of this agreement. This agreement becomes effective on February 1,2007 and remains in effect until terminated or = amended by either party with prior written notice. 3 Appendix A Joint Agreement for Articulating RCC's A.S. - Pharmacy Technology Degree For Transfer into SMSU's B.S. Degree in Management, Concentration in Healthcare Administration This agreement includes specific requirements for admission into a program. In particular, this Appendix outlines baccalaureate requirements and indicates how an A.S. Degree at RCC can be used to partially meet SMSU's BS in BADM, Healthcare Administration Concentration program requirements. The items below also specify general education, major, and graduation requirements for the BS Degree. To satisfy this requirement, in part, for B.S. participants, SMSU will accept ACCT , ACCT 20 12, BUSA 1065, STAT 2021, ECON 2292, ECON 2291 (a total of 18 semester credits) from Riverland Community College as a part of those 64 credits. No other courses will be considered as a part of the 64 semester credits from a four-year institution. The four pre-business classes (English, Speech, College Algebra) are not recognized as four-year credits.
4 Completion of a B.S. Degree at SMSU requires: A minimum of 128 semester credit hours (SCH). A minimum of 64 SCH from SMSU or other accredited 4-year institutions. A minimum of 32 SCH out of the last 64 SCH from SMSU or another State University under the Common Market Program. A minimum of 27 SCH at the 300 or 400 level. The requirements for an approved major, 14 SCH of which must be taken at SMSU. The SMSU Liberal Arts Core (LAC) Curriculum requirements, or completion of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MTC) All coursework with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00 for courses taken while enrolled at SMSU. Successful completion of the SMSU Graduation requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree. The following limitations also apply: o No more than 6 SCH of courses numbered (or RCC equivalent) and no SCH courses numbered (or PTC equivalent) shall be counted toward graduation. o No more than 10 SCH of creditlno credit (CRNC) courses outside the major shall be counted toward graduation. The list of course work below identifies how a RCC student with an AS in Pharmacy Technology would meet the specific requirements for a Management Major, Healthcare Administration Concentration at SMSU. Complete ENGL 1101, ENGL 1104 or 1105, SPCH ll00andmath 1110 with a grade of C or better. 2. Complete 27 semester credits hours of the MTC, including ENGL 1 101, ENGL or 1 105, SPCH and MATH , with a GPA or 2.50 or higher.
