3 ROLE SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND DSU is seeking to recruit a Graphic Designer to manage De Montfort Students Union s graphic design output for print and online platforms. This will include creating high quality, exciting printed material and electronic content. The candidate will edit and manage the organisation s website and design handbooks, leaflets, posters and other printed material for all internal departments. The right candidate will have strong creative skills in both web and graphic design and a portfolio of related experience. The successful candidate should have extensive experience of Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator packages. This role is integral to our Membership Services and is an exciting opportunity for an individual who would like to join a dynamic and aspirational organisation. 4 JOB SPECIFICATION Job title: Department: Salary : Hours of Work: Responsible to: Supervision: Purpose of Post: Graphic Design Coordinator Membership Services (Marketing and Communications) 18,549 to 22,029 per annum pro rata 20 hours per week Marketing and Communications Manager Frontrunners where appropriate Working with both the Membership Services and Commercial Services departments of the organisation you will create exciting electronic content and design stimulating printed material. You will be responsible for engaging our student members; promoting the DSU brand and the design and coordination of DSU s marketing material on and off line in order to enhance the profile of the Students Union to our members, the University and the local community. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work to specified briefs to plan and create exciting online and print graphic design content for all departments at DSU Ensure design across DSU is cohesive and adheres to brand guidelines Develop engaging visual campaigns and brand identities for new DSU projects that work within the DSU brand umbrella Work with the Web Developer to create graphic content for the DSU website Produce interesting and engaging periodical Impact Reports, Question of the Month postcards, Freshers collateral and other important projects based on copy text provided Find and work with new print and promotional item suppliers and manage those relationships Maintain an image bank for promotional purposes including the commissioning of new images and dealing with copyright issues. Ensure DSU noticeboards across campus create impact and are kept up to date. Provide appropriate professional advice and support to relevant staff and elected officers as required. Attend meetings and training events as required.
