2 LOGISTIX DOCUMENT M A K I N G W O R K F L O W INTRODUCTION Document Manager 5 (DM5) is available today with new advantages delivered in HTML5 for users of Document Logistix s existing Web and desktop Document Manager solutions. DM5 has smart, rich functionality right now, with some great business tools coming very soon (Q1 2015), which include a dynamic graphical Workflow Designer. The Workflow Designer enables users to: visualise workflows, create workflows using drag-and-drop, share prototype workflows with colleagues, debate, change and agree rules-based checkpoints, create and implement final workflow versions incredibly easily! One of the advantages commented upon by the people who have seen DM5 in action is the ability to see pinned tasks that require your attention, in a dashboard, as soon as you log in. This functionality replaces the need to load and run multiple saved searches and view exceptions. Tasks remove themselves once resolved, with annotations and comments, which makes actions clear to all stakeholders and creates action audit trails for clarity down the line. Users of the DLX Silverlight version (DM 2011) will experience a big increase in speed and ease of use. Desktop users should consider going web-based for easier deployment that overcomes the need to install on each local workstation. DM5 will evolve into the single web solution for Document Logistix s Document Manager over time

3 OVERVIEW Document Manager 5 (DM5) is a web-based application of Document Manager designed to either work in conjunction with existing on-premise installations of Document Manager Enterprise edition version 2.7 or later or as a hosted/managed service. Using HTML 5, it is designed to be both functional and easy to use while providing compatibility with a wide range of devices and operating systems, including PCs, Tablets and mobile phones. In addition, it provides the necessary services to support DM Mobile for iphone. DM 5 presents a new way of using Document Manager, is feature rich and provides a pleasant, responsive user experience. HTML 5 is widely recognised as the industry accepted standard and is being supported by all leading hardware and software vendors. It allows rapid development of functionally rich content that will work on a wide range of devices. A NEW LOOK AND FEEL We had a complete rethink when designing DM5 and at every stage of development we have considered what our users will want from the product: ease of use, intuitive interfaces and uncluttered screens that optimise available space. DASHBOARD When users first login they are presented with a list of predefined searches that tell them, without having to search and look, whether there is anything requiring their attention.

4 In addition we know that users frequently work on the same set of issues, so we provide quick access to recently used documents, folders and even the ability to repeat recent searches. Where users are performing the same searches repeatedly these can be made available on the dashboard for quick access. SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL SEARCH Searches are easy to create, yet can be complex without being complicated. Simply define the criteria from the guided drop-down selections. Combine multiple conditions with AND / OR logic and run the search.

5 DOCUMENT VIEWER The document viewer dynamically hides the toolbars to make best use of available screen space, but super-imposes them when needed. Annotation tools can be used to highlight, redact (part hide), stamp or comment on the document. FUNCTIONALITY Not all the functionality of the 2.7 desktop client exists in DM 5 yet, at the current release of 5.2 the functionality available includes the following (* indicates new functionality not available in other versions of Document Manager): Login Optional Active Directory support and Single Sign-on Password reset feature for forgotten passwords. 9 CLIENT (BROWSER) REQUIREMENTS DM5 should work on any Web Browser supporting HTML 5. DLX develop and functionality test with Internet Explorer 9, 10, 11, Google Chrome 36 and Safari on Windows 7, Windows 8, ios ( iphone and ipad all models) and Android[Samsung Galaxy/Google Nexus]. For up to date HTML5 browser compatibility refer to DATABASE REQUIREMENTS Microsoft SQL Server with a Document Manager 2.7 or later database installed. MS-SQL Server 2005, 2008 or 2012 (Recommended). SQL Server Express can be deployed but has some limitations (size, performance etc ). Check the Microsoft Licensing requirements if your Web Server will be public facing (not just publishing internally to your organisation).
