1 Register For and Complete HIPAA Privacy and Security Web-Based Training (WBT) Register The Administrative Services Office in each department will assign the HIPAA Privacy and Security webbased training course to employee learning plans in scclearn. Employees will receive an scclearn notification when the course has been assigned. Once you have received the scclearn notification, follow the steps below to enroll in the class. Find the course in My Learning on the scclearn home page, or in My Plan on the ME tab. Click View classes. Click View detail to see the list of class activities you will have to complete. You will notice that this class includes two activities that must be completed to receive credit for the course. Click Enroll to register for the class. 1 Page

2 A registration confirmation will appear. Click Close. The course status page will appear. Your status and due date are shown in the section on the right-hand side. The two online activities to be completed are shown on the lower left, with a launch button next to each one. Click the Launch button for either one to begin the class. You may choose which activity to begin first, and must complete both to receive credit for the course. Continue to Web-Based Training 2 Page

3 Web-Based Training (WBT) Before you begin You must use a supported browser, such as Internet Explorer (IE) 10. Note: For technical support, visit the scclearn user support site and click the Get Help tab. Enable your Audio using the computer speakers or headphones. If you have a toolbar on your browser, turn off the Pop-Up Blocker feature within the toolbar. Tips for successful course completion Reserve time to complete the online activities within a single session if possible. Do not leave the class activities inactive for 15 minutes or longer. After 15 minutes of no activity, the course will stop recording your progress. Always close the class activities using the Save Your Progress steps below even if you are just taking a break. By following the proper steps, you will be able to return to complete the activities at another time and your progress will be saved. If you have technical problems, contact the TechLink Center (TLC). For urgent issues, call the TLC team at Launch an Activity Click the Launch button for one of the activities. Click Run if you see any Java prompts. 3 Page

4 When the course window displays, click on the Play this Course link. Note: Do not close this window. It s needed to record your progress in scclearn. The Skillsoft course player will open. Read the Conditions of Self-Monitored Training, and click Yes. The Progress & Tests page will monitor your progress. (More information about this page is provided later in this document.) The navigation buttons are at the bottom of the window. Click Begin Course. The course will advance automatically or you can use the arrow buttons. How to Exit and Save Your Progress Follow the steps below to ensure that your Skillsoft class progress is saved and transmitted to scclearn. Note: Do not close the window using the browser X button. To exit an activity and save your progress, click on the black X in the upper right corner of the Skillsoft course player window. Note: The X will turn yellow when you mouse over it. When the Exit Skillsoft Player window displays, review your status then click Yes to exit the Skillsoft Player. 4 Page

5 Close the scclearn course player by clicking the black X and wait for the scclearn screen to refresh. The course status page will display. How to Return to the Course To resume your progress after a break, find the course in My Learning on the scclearn home page, or in My Plan on the ME tab. Click View Summary. The activities will display simply click the Launch button for the activity you wish to return to. How to monitor your completion status in the Skillsoft course To successfully complete the course, you must do the following: View every page of each online activity. Pass the tests with a score of 80% or higher. Progress & Tests page If your Course Score is under 80%, retake the test until you pass. All bubbles in the status column must be completely filled in green. If you find an empty or partial bubble, click on the title to go back to that section and view every page. 5 Page
