2 About Barcelona GSE The Barcelona Graduate School of Economics ranks between 2nd and 3rd in economics research output in continental Europe when the research of its founding universities, the UPF and UAB, is combined. Drèze and Fernando Estevan "Research and Higher Education in Economics: Can We Deliver The Lisbon Objectives?, Journal of the European Economic Association, May 2007 The Barcelona GSE is an institution of graduate education founded in 2006 as a result of the joint efforts of four high caliber and wellestablished academic bodies: Universitat Pompeu Fabra Department of Economics Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona Unit of Economic Analisis Institute for Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC) Center for Research in International Economics (CREI) The confluence of the strong community of researchers and bodies, fostered by the Barcelona Research Network, forges collaborative synergies. The Barcelona GSE derives its core strength from the faculty of its founding academic institutions, which employ over a hundred renowned scholars.

3 Organization & Governance President: Andreu Mas-Colell Board of Trustees A unique combination of public and private partnership provides the School with excellent links with Barcelona s academic and business communities and guarantees their commitment to wellrounded progress of its programs. Honorary president: Joaquín Almunia, European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Academic Program Council Advises on strategic and quality issues related with the academic affairs and in the identification of future needs and trends relating to the academic offer. Its components are scholars and Barcelona GSE affiliated professors.

4 Scientific Council The Scientific Council has been established to uphold Barcelona GSE s unwavering commitment to the highest academic standards. The Council ensures the quality of the academic performance and enhances relationships between the School and the international academic community. It is made up of 30 world leading academics, including ten Nobel Laureates in Economics.
