2 Execu ve MBA Program Highlights Program A two year program for managers and execu ves. Degree Execu ve MBA par cipants complete 36 credit hours (12 courses) and earn a Master of Business Administra on (MBA) degree from Prairie View A&M University. Courses Courses are eight (8) weeks. Class Mee ngs Classes meet on alternate Saturdays during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Loca on Classes are taught in northwest Houston at the PVAMU Northwest Houston Center located near FM 1960 and SH 249 (Tomball Parkway) at 9449 Grant Road. Capstone Project This course spans two semesters and allows students to bring learning from the EMBA program to bear on a final real world project. The project topic must be original and have a prac cal applica on in their area of interest oil and gas, energy, commercializa on of technology, health care administra on, and other cri cal areas. Students may be partnered with a professional or peer mentor in their industry to complete this project. Interna onal Field Trip Interested students have the opportunity to par cipate in a study immersion experience in China prior to their final semester in the program. The costs of the field trip are included in the program tui on. Costs Program costs for classes beginning fall 2012 and spring 2013 is $36,252 ($3,021 per course). Financial Assistance Financial assistance may be available to eligible students. Accredita on All degree programs offered through the College of Business at Prairie View A&M University are accredited by AACSB Interna onal; this is a third party accredita on that ensures students that the business school is providing a top quality educa on.

3 Execu ve MBA Program Applica on and Admission Informa on The PVAMU College of Business accepts applicants for admission to the EMBA Program in the fall and spring semesters. The deadline for admission applica on to the EMBA program is August 1, 2012 for the fall 2012 semester and November 1, 2012 for the spring 2013 semester. Students seeking admission to the EMBA degree program must meet a set of rigorous standards and submit the following materials were applicable: A completed applica on for admission to the Graduate Programs in Business for the EMBA Program (available at h p:// A bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university A minimum of three years of management experience (e.g. as project manager, director, or district manager). Official transcript(s) for all college work (undergraduate and graduate from each ins tu on previously a ended) A minimum undergraduate cumula ve grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.00 grading scale A two page statement summarizing how the EMBA will advance the student's career goals and personal objec ves. 4 E MBA C* EACC 5213 A E The primary focus of this course will be managerial accoun ng within a global environment. The focus of this course will be advanced accoun ng tools, concepts, and techniques for decision making in a global environment. EECO 5103 E G E Students will explore the global economy and its poten al to affect management decision making. The course will focus on exports, imports, interna onal trade, interna onal finance, as well as micro and macro perspec ves of the firm rela ng to the global economy. Highlights include study of the global economy, global market structure and policy, pricing in a global market, and the economics of mul na onal firms. Students will also learn skills cri cal in nego a ng contracts and agreements across na onal boundaries. EFIN 5103 T C F Real and simulated cases will be analyzed to help students integrate financial and economic theories to analyze and solve major financial problems facing corpora ons. Topics such as capital budge ng, capital structure, mergers and acquisi ons, bankruptcy and reorganiza on, and risk management will be covered. EMCO 5203 E M C Management communica on as the downward, horizontal, and upward transfer of informa on and exchange of meaning, through formal and informal channels will be discussed in this course. Subject ma ers covered will also include the art of nego a on, iden fying rhetorical strategies and guidelines for analyzing and resolving stakeholder conflicts. EMGM 5103 D A M D M The course provides an in depth introduc on to sta s cs as applied to managerial problems. The course covers a quan ta ve approach to decision making with an emphasis on conceptual understanding as well as applied sta s cal analyses. Sta s cal so ware will be used throughout the course. EMGM 5113 E L This course addresses topics such as leadership skills necessary at the execu ve level, building a personal leadership brand, managing personal reputa on and image, the nature of strategic thinking, how decision making changes at different leadership levels within an organiza on, personal and organiza onal barriers to execu on and implementa on, and understanding one s style of rela ng to and leading others. EMGM 5303 E T S P The course is intended to provide broad exposure to strategic management theories and various concepts and developments in this area. Students will develop skills necessary to analyze a problem situa on, problem iden fica on, strategy formula on, and strategy implementa on and evalua on. The process will also focus on the leader's ability to manage the process of strategy formula on and implementa on. *Tenta ve course offerings

5 E MBA C EMGM 5403 O S C M This course discusses the systema c design, direc on, and control of processes that transform inputs into services and products for customers. The course will focus on how processes can be designed and managed to support the strategic objec ves of an organiza on EMGM 5503 B E L Understand the underlying principles of ethics, related law, integrity, and objec vity for business execu ves, the audit commi ee, and external auditors. In addi on, the student should be aware of the importance of observing the ethical rules of the professional and regulatory bodies EMGM 5903 C P This course will provide an opportunity to bring the learning from the EMBA program to bear on a final real world project. The project topic must be original and have bearing to a real world problem. Actual projects will be specific with an emphasis on finding solu ons to real world business/industry problems. A few sample (broad) topics are given below: Healthcare Management Oil and Gas Accoun ng Transfer Pricing Global Entrepreneurship (including Social or non profit) Managing Organiza ons in the Oil and Gas industry, Health Care Sector Leadership in a Global Economy Leveraging Social Media in Contemporary Organiza ons Sports Management Communica on Strategic Vision Other EMIS 5513 I T O V C The role of Informa on Technology in value crea on in organiza ons will be discussed in this course. Topics will include business value of organiza onal technologies (such as ERP, CRM, etc.), IT based resources, capabili es, and compeve advantage. EMRK 5433 M G E Topics related to the marke ng func on and how it relates to value crea on, strategic corporate management, and marke ng decisions in a global environment will be the primary focus of this course. Included will be materials and presenta ons on organiza onal market orienta on and dynamics, adver sing and promo on, managing customer rela onships, marke ng for startups, maintaining brand value, and global marke ng strategies, and linking marke ng strategies to financial value, within the scope of both domes c and interna onal markets.

7 E MBA F Selected Faculty Biographical Sketches Bell, Reginald (Communica on, Entrepreneurship) is an associate professor in the college of business. He received a Ph.D. from University of Missouri at Columbia in Business Educa on. He has an MBA and has worked in the private sector. His current research interests include managerial communica on and scholarship on teaching and learning in business subjects. He has published refereed ar cles and proceedings, including ar cles in the Interna onal Journal of Educa on Research, Journal of College Teaching and Learning, Journal of Business and Leadership: Research, Teaching and Prac ce, Business Communica on Quarterly, Journal of Leadership, Accountability and Ethics, The Academy of Educa onal Leadership journal, Academy of Marke ng Studies Journal and Southwestern Business Administra on Journal. His papers have received best paper awards in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and Chong, Gin (Accoun ng), professor in the Department of Accoun ng, Finance and MIS in the College of Business at Prairie View A&M University, is best known for his research work on accoun ng and audi ng systems of the emerging markets, materiality and audit risk, performance measurements of firms, and governance and ethics. He has more than ten years of private sector experience accoun ng. His research has appeared in journals such as Advances in Accoun ng, The Interna onal Journal of Business, Accoun ng and Finance, Corporate Governance: An Interna onal Journal of Business in Society, and Managerial Audi ng Journal. Dr. Chong brings his interna onal work experiences to classrooms. He has delivered many key note speeches in Asia and Europe, received several excellence in teaching awards and excellence in research awards, was a commi ee chair for a number of Ph.D candidates, and currently serves as an advisor for the editorial boards of many refereed journals. Dyck, John (Management, Human Resources) is a faculty in management and the director of the graduate Programs in business. He has a Ph.D. in psychology specializes in industrial/organiza onal psychology. He has taught courses in human resources, organiza onal behavior, entrepreneurship and introduc on to business at both the undergraduate and graduate level. His professional experience includes over 25 years in management consul ng of which three years were with a na onal consul ng firm that employed approximately 80 consultants specializing in corporate psychology. The prac ce of corporate psychology included organiza onal assessments and assessment of individuals being considered for employment or promo on. Typical projects included reorganiza ons, mergers and acquisi ons and downsizing.

8 E MBA F Selected Faculty Biographical Sketches Huang, Henry (Accoun ng) is an associate professor of accoun ng. He holds an LLM and a master s degree in accoun ng from University of Houston (2001). He completed his BBA from the Law School of Beijing University, China, in 1996 and earned his Ph.D. in Accoun ng from the University of Houston in He taught at Butler University as an assistant professor of accoun ng from 2005 to Dr. Huang has published in top journals in his area of exper se, law and accoun ng. He has published seven ar cles in peer reviewed journals far exceeding the minimum standards in the COB. Two of his papers have appeared in the Journal of Financial Economics (JFE), and Review of Quan ta ve Finance and Accoun ng, both are high quality journals. He has presented papers in research conferences, published proceedings, and has reviewed papers for well known journals in the field. Liston, Daniel Perez (Finance) is an assistant professor of finance at Prairie View A&M University. He earned a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Texas Pan American, and holds both a bachelor s degree in finance and a master of business administra on from the same university. His research interests include socially responsible inves ng, interna onal finance, and the role of investor sen ment in asset pricing. His research has been published in various peer reviewed journals, such as Managerial Finance and the North American Journal of Finance and Banking Research. He has also presented his work at various na onal conferences such as the Financial Management Associa on, Midwest Finance Associa on, Academy of Behavioral Finance and Economics, Academy of Economics and Finance, and Southwestern Finance Associa on Mee ngs. Mahfouz, Ahmed (MIS) is an associate professor of Management Informa on Systems (MIS) in the Department of Accoun ng, Finance and Informa on Systems. Dr. Mahfouz holds a B.S. in Management Science and MBA from Virginia Polytechnic Ins tute and State University 1994 and 1997, respec vely. He earned his Ph.D. in Informa on and Opera ons Management (MIS) from Texas A&M University in December, Dr. Mahfouz has published his research in journals and as chapters in edited books. He has published five ar cles in peer reviewed journals, and four in refereed proceedings. Addi onally, he has published two chapters in edited books, and has presented his research in interna onal, na onal and regional conferences. Two of his graduate students worked under his supervision to publish a refereed journal ar cle. McNeil, Lawrence (Economics, Interna onal) is an assistant professor of economics. Dr. McNeil holds a BBA in history from Morgan State University, a masters degree in interna onal rela ons and trade from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in economics from Howard University. He has published in the area of economics and interna onal trade. He has taught a number of course including Leadership and Ethics in Business, Principles of Economics, Managerial Economics and Interna onal Trade Theory. Dr. McNeil has work experience with the Peace Corps and the Federal Government (Federal Reserve Bank).

9 E MBA F Selected Faculty Biographical Sketches Quddus, Munir (Economics, Ethics and Leadership) is a professor of economics and the dean of the College of Business at Prairie View A&M University. Dr. Quddus has taught Managerial Economics; survey of economics; Theories and Policies of Economic Development (Vanderbilt University, Graduate Program 1990); Corporate Finance & Macroeconomic Theory (The Economic Ins tute, Boulder, CO, 1988, 1989), at the graduate level and has taught Leadership and Ethics in Business. Dr. Quddus serves as the Execu ve Director of the Small Business Development Center, PVAMU and on the board of advisors for the Center for Interna onal Business, Mays School of Business, Texas A&M University. In 2008, he completed the Management Leadership program (MLE) for senior administrators in higher educa on at Harvard University. He has co authored ar cles in refereed journals and books including, Entrepreneurs and Economic Development: The Remarkable Story of Garment Exports from Bangladesh published in 2000, and Recrea ng the Commons: NGOs in Bangladesh, co edited and published in Zhang, Yi (Finance) is an assistant professor of finance. Dr. Zhang joined the Prairie View A&M University in fall 2008 a er she graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a Ph.D. in finance. She got her Bachelor in Economics from Xiamen University, China. She worked on interna onal trade for three years. She also holds an MBA from J. D. Edwards Honors Program at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Zhang s primary teaching interests are corporate finance and investments. As a graduate student at UNL, she taught several undergraduate finance courses. She won the college wide Graduate Teaching Assistant Award. She taught Financial Management, Investments and Principles of Finance. Zhang s primary research interest is how investors belief differences affect asset valua ons and corporate decisions. She has worked on a variety of topics in corporate finance, investments and behavioral finance. She published at quality journals such as the Na onal Tax Journal. She is ac ve in scholarly ac vi es such as conference presenta ons and serving as a referee for the Quarterly Journal of Finance and Accoun ng. She is a member of Financial Management Associa on and Midwest Finance Associa on.
