3 Student Learning Support for All Taskforce Initiatives for FY15 Incorporate 21 st Century Skills and Next Generation Science Standards into Common Core Curriculum Internal Community Develop and implement extended school day programs External Community Community connection/engagement for the Board of Education Ø Technology Develop Board of Education protocols Expand technology opportunities for all students Acquire and allocate technology solutions: Ø Common Core State Standards and online assessments

4 Highlights: Student Learning v Support for All: Educating administration and staff on changing student demographics and available community resources Increasing exposure of community resources to families: Ø assistance of the Social Workers Ø tri-fold boards in the school offices Ø resource representatives present at Proof of Residency 2015 Purpose: help families set up their children for academic success, and deal with the issues that distract students from succeeding

5 Highlights: Student Learning v Full implementation for Next Generation Science Standards by the year 2017 Training of K-5 and Middle School Science teachers on new science standards Middle School Science standards curriculum alignment with Next Generation Science Standards Begun developing units based on Next Generation Science Standards Ø Minimum of one unit ready for next fall

6 Highlights: Internal Community v Wide variety of stakeholders on planning committee 30 people: community partners, parents, teachers and administrators. v All schools offer after school programs to at-risk students Transportation provided, academically and study skills based Middle school offers parent education programs v Researching Lake County school districts regarding extended day programs

7 Highlights: External Community v Researched and developed a framework for the Board of Education members to communicate with the community Inform/Engage Consult Involve Collaborate v Reviewed and outlined past District 50 community engagement practices

8 Highlights: Technology v v v v v Reviewed with all schools ways to enhance curriculum instruction through technology. Developing a sequence of technology reallocation or acquisition as a part of the overall leasing program. Committee members working with staff in their schools to identify key technology requirements in the classroom based on Common Core and student use. Surveyed all school districts in Lake County and a large sample set throughout the state to gather data on technology trends. Determined on-line assessment requirements including PARCC.
