4 MSc Entrepreneurship & Financing To be successful today, entrepreneurs have to know how to use the entire range of traditional and novel forms of financing. In ever more competitive global markets, organisations that depend solely upon re-investing profits and loan finance will be condemned to slow growth. Our faculty members use a variety of teaching methods including lectures and seminars, case studies, entrepreneurship and business scenarios, with distinguished visiting speakers. The Entrepreneurship Project is a live case study, where students replicate a financial consultancy intervention with local firms. You will also work with leading academics and industry experts in the Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship and the ICMA Centre. You will develop an ability to apply knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurial decision-making in complex scenarios. You will also learn to understand, respond to and initiate change, and be able to demonstrate intellectual breadth by making integrative links across the various areas of entrepreneurship and finance. 6 MSc International Business This Masters programme addresses key issues including how multinational firms decide where and when to invest internationally and how to evaluate the opportunities and challenges that face them in different countries. This programme takes a dual approach to understanding international business, examining both the external (macro environmental) issues affecting an organisation, and the internal (micro environmental) factors. During the programme you will analyse the strategic choices multinational firms make to compete in a global economy, whilst examining the effect of their actions from both a developing and developed country perspective. 8 MSc International Energy Studies This Masters programme will provide a thorough postgraduate education in the specialist energy-sector area with particular reference to oil and gas. This Masters programme explores a wide range of disciplines related to effective decision-making in the international specialist energy sector. Key areas include business, legal, engineering and economics. Students will develop a critical understanding of current theories and empirical research in this field and be able to apply this learning within an institutional framework. They will learn to evaluate alternative theories and methodologies to make judgements on their applicability to complex energy issues where there is incomplete information. This course is designed for graduates who intend to enter, or enhance their career prospects, in the oil or gas industry. Entrants to this programme are normally required to have obtained an upper second-class honours degree or equivalent. 10 MSc International Human Resource Management This Masters programme combines a mix of theory and practice in the study of International HRM. It is approved by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) as providing the skill and knowledge required for membership. By studying this programme you will receive a grounding in the field of international HRM with a specific focus upon its development into a strategic function. You will develop a comparative awareness of the various elements of HRM practice, notably training and development; recruitment and selection; and performance management. 11 MSc International Management Grounded in current management science, this Masters programme provides a critical and ambitious specialisation in the field of current challenges facing international management of global and trans-national businesses and organisations. Distinctive in its international approach, this programme places an emphasis on a systems view of the firm with an emphasis on firms and organisations which operate in a global or international context of business. This MSc aims to balance external (macro environmental) issues affecting an organisation, and micro environmental aspects of its operation. This allows you to complete your application, attach electronic copies of academic transcripts, certificates and other supporting information and also enables an request to be sent to your referees enabling them to send your supporting references directly to us. For further information on how to apply, including how to submit your application, please visit When to apply Although there is no formal deadline for applications, competition for places on all our postgraduate Masters programmes is strong, so we advise that you apply as early as possible. Overseas applicants (non EU) should apply well in advance of the start of term to allow time for their UK visa application to be processed. If you have any questions at any stage, please don t hesitate to contact us. Fees Your fees will vary depending on your chosen Masters programme. They are normally paid in two equal instalments but arrangements can be made to pay for the whole of your programme in advance. You ll pay a non-refundable deposit when confirming your acceptance of an offer of a place. This is part of your tuition fee and will be deducted from the total amount when you enrol. Living costs Please note that tuition fees do not include accommodation and other living costs. Students are advised to budget for between 160 and 240 per week depending on their accommodation charges. International students, who often need to allow for additional accommodation and living costs during the three vacations are advised to budget for at least 12,000 per year excluding tuition fees. Scholarships and bursaries Henley Business School provides substantial postgraduate funding. We offer a competitive range of scholarships to students from all over the world. Additional university-wide sources of funding may also be available. Entry requirements Entry requirements vary between programmes but generally you are expected to hold an upper secondclass Bachelors degree from a UK university, or the equivalent from an internationally-recognised university. Applicants to Henley Business School whose first language is not English will be required to attain the International English Language Test Scores (IELTS), or equivalent qualifications that are accepted by the university, as defined below, to enter a programme. However, for students who successfully complete one of the pre-sessional English Language courses run by the University of Reading s International Study and Language Centre, a half-band credit will be applied to their English language condition.
