2 About Our Products Purified Infectious/Inactivated Agents ABI produces a variety of specialized reagents, allowing researchers to choose the best preparations for their studies. Available reagents include purified virus, purified viral lysate, whole inactivated virus, and high-titer infectious virus preparations. ABI offers custom start-to-finish virus propagation, purification, characterization, and inactivation services. We also specialize in large scale, in vitro production of HIV and other viruses. DNA Controls and Primers for PCR ABI s DNA controls can be used as positive controls in nucleic acid amplification reactions. Quantitated controls can also be used to generate standard curves for quantitative PCR assays, and in real-time quantitated PCR to determine the copy number of unknown samples. The preparations from whole virus, virus infected cells, or cultured bacteria, allow researchers to amplify or test any region of the genome which is present in natural infections. Additionally, PCR primers are available to complement select DNA controls. Infectious Disease Antigens ABI s Infectious Disease Antigens are carefully optimized and characterized to assure high sensitivity and specificity in a variety of antibody detection assay formats. In addition to virus infected cell extracts, ABI offers various uninfected cell extracts for use as negative controls. Antigen purification strategies vary according to each product. Blood Products Human Blood derived products are offered for use in infectious disease research. Cryopreserved elutriated lymphocytes and monocytes/macrophages are prepared from single donor blood and may be purchased as frozen cell ampules. Other blood products such as Heat-Inactivated Human AB+ Serum and Purified Human Interleukin-2 are available as supplements for primary cell culture. Native & Recombinant Viral Proteins ABI s Purified Native Viral Proteins are whole viral antigens that have been immunoaffinity purified from clarified infected cell extracts. ABI offers purified native viral proteins from virus-infected cell culture, isolated from conditioned cell culture medium, inactivated by Triton X-100, and then purified by immunoaffinity chromatography or reverse phase HPLC to >95% purity. Our EBNA-1 Purified Recombinant Protein is a full-length EBNA-1 gene cloned and produced in a Baculovirus protein expression system. EBNA-1 is then purified by ion-exchange chromatography to >95% purity. Quantitated Viral Load Controls Our new Quantitated Viral Load Controls can be used in nucleic acid extraction and amplification processes alongside unknown samples to measure viral load and as a control to validate, monitor, and troubleshoot testing procedures. Quantitated Viral Load Controls contain a known concentration of purified, whole virus Monoclonal Antibodies ABI offers monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies against infectious agents. These antibodies are directed against specific human viral proteins and are highly specific in immunoassays. ABI hybridomas are produced by standard fusion and selection methodologies to yield the highest quality monoclonal antibodies possible for a specific application. ELISA Test Kits ABI s ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay)research test kits are intended for qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of IgG antibody in human serum or plasma. All test kits are evaluated against a standard panel of samples to ensure that product specificity and sensitivity claims are met. Kits are reliable and easy to use, and produce rapid results. All necessary reagents are included to perform multiple individual assays. particles suspended in a buffer appropriate for further dilution in the same matrix as the unknown sample.

Cell & Infectious Agent Propagation ABI can use your provided cell line to grow high-quality cell seed stocks and create Master or Working Cell Banks (MCB or WCB). ABI can also use your provided virus stock to propagate your custom material. Because Quality Control (QC) testing is a critical part of ABI s production process, sterility testing, Mycoplasma testing, and a viable cell count are performed on every custom cell culture product. Concentration/Purification Some research projects demand a high-purity concentrated virus, while others demand a high titer. And while all of ABI s concentrated viral and bacterial preparations undergo rigorous quality control testing, the individual assays required to determine product specifications may vary according to your specific research needs. ABI provides multiple options to help researchers customize their viral and bacterial preparations. Our Purified Virus products assure the highest purity viral preparations. Inactivation Inactivated viral and bacterial preparations are essential for some investigations. ABI offers custom inactivation services for any infectious agent in our inventory. Additionally, inactivations can be performed on samples submitted to ABI, or on custom viral or bacterial preparations. Electron Microscopy For over 30 years, our Electron Microscopy (EM) services have allowed investigators to examine fine structure for the presence, absence, and quantitation of known microbial or adventitious agents in specimens. Utilizing negative staining technology, our scientists are able to conduct extensive analysis for virus characterization. We provide the investigator with the recommended reagents and protocols needed to properly prepare their specimens for EM examination.
