7 What will you study? Our Diploma of Events offers far more than hours in the lecture room and time spent in the library. Our aim is to engage you from day one in the work life of the event management professional. Yes, we do lectures and tutorials, lots of research and case study analysis, group projects, report writing, essays, special projects, hypothetical exercises and creative thinking. But we also see the city as an extension of the classroom and a proportion of every week of your course will be spent observing events and learning from what you see and hear. It s called praxis : theory combined with practice. We love it. The hypothetical event project will use real world venues, suppliers and calendar dates. It s a bit like a flight simulator for events. You walk away with a bound copy of your event manual. A passport to job interviews. Nationally accredited courses The Diploma of Events (SIT50212) is a nationally accredited course approved under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) under the auspices of the Australian Quality Skills Authority (ASQA). Our Diploma of Events qualification can be used to facilitate entry to higher education courses. For example, we have a formal articulation agreement with Flinders University that gives a full year s credit towards their Bachelor of International Tourism.

Our college offers cutting edge technology complete with the latest software, high speed internet and wireless network, on site support and training. Our teaching method is engaging, interactive and fun Our courses are based on the simulated workplace. Your first day with the College of Event Management is a little bit like your first day at work. You have your own computer and workspace that you can personalise as you settle in. Your day begins with a team meeting in which we review the tasks for the day, assign roles and set priorities, just like a real event management company. Our blended delivery approach to learning means you do some of your work face-to-face with your teachers and other students and some of it through an online learning portal. You conduct research, complete assessments and delve into the vast world of events online. You can also check your timetable and progress reports and conduct collaborative group work online. We get you to your destination fast Our Diploma of Events is achieved through accelerated learning delivery which means you graduate in either six months (full-time) or twelve months (part-time). Full-time program You study each day from 9.00am until 5.00pm. Most of your work lectures, field trips, group work, private study and assessment is done during those hours so that you can enjoy time with friends and family and even hold down a part-time job on weekends or evenings. But be prepared to study hard. Accelerated learning means total focus when you are at college. Just as in a real workplace you will be expected to perform. Part-time program You attend classes two evenings per week from 6.00pm until 9.00pm plus eight Saturday workshops throughout the year. There is also an online study component fully supported by your lecturers and a work experience program to give you valuable exposure to the events industry. We will assist you in finding meaningful work experience with organisations that will extend your skills and knowledge. Studying part-time is a great option for those people that need to work while they study. You can keep your job, find time for friends and family and graduate in twelve months. The part-time program is intensive and exciting so be prepared for a fabulous journey.

Exams are a necessary part of the assessment process. But we believe regular assessment tasks spread throughout the course results in better learning outcomes and way less stress.
