Teaching Portfolio Workshop for the School of Business at SIUE, November Training in development of a teaching portfolio in support of tenure pursuit. Teaching Tea: Research and the Faculty s Academic Life, February The program intended to give inexperienced faculty insight into how to balance research and teaching and how to incorporate the faculty member s research into the classroom. Teaching Square: Spring Participants observed each of the other professors classes. We met at the end of the semester to exchange the positive things we picked up from each other. Research Grant-Writing Workshop, Summer 2007, SIUE Conducted by Graduate Studies Department. Review of proposal process, both internal and external. Development of sample proposal. Workshop Teaching Square: Fall Corrdinated Teaching Square with two other SOB faculty, based on my experience from the previous Teaching Square Participants observed each other in class in order to learn effective teaching techniques. Teaching Tea October 2007, entitled Matching Learning Goals with Classroom Activities, Attendees gave examples of their approaches to keeping the students engaged while merging current research into their classrooms. Workshop on assessment of student learning, Fall Presentations of assessment and grading rubric for group projects and presentations, individual projects and assignments. 5
