8 NAPE Workforce Growth S&E Workforce Growth was 1.4% from compared to 0.2% growth for general workforce. Retirement Many S&E workers are reaching traditional retirement age (26% were older than age 50 in 2006). Fastest Growing 7 out of 10 of the fastest growing occupations, requiring at least an associate degree, are in STEM fields 2 Year Degrees Half of all STEM jobs are available to workers without a four-year college degree, and these jobs pay 10 percent higher than jobs with similar educational requirements STEM Knowledge As of 2011, 26 million U.S. jobs 20 percent of all jobs require a high level of knowledge in any one STEM field

Conduct the STEM Career Activity with your students. There are STEM Pathways for every student. Encourage every student to explore their options and opportunities.

Use the Kudos cards to write personal notes to students, helping them to picture themselves in STEM. Expose students to female, Latino and Black scientists, technologists and engineers through posters, books and websites. Invite a guest speaker to talk to your class.
