2 Why do we do Module Allocations? To allow student choice. To ensure a fair allocations process. For small group teaching seminar groups of 15. Last year every student was allocated to at least two of their first preferences. There will be over 30 modules to choose from; you pick your first and second preferences. We will allocate you to a combination of these. The module list will be different to the list.

3 Module Allocations: the process Wed 22 nd April Wed 22 nd April (after meeting) Fri 1 st May Tues 5 th Sun 10 th May Tues 5 th Fri 22 nd May Mon 11 th Mon 18 th May Tues 19 th May Wed 20 th Fri 22 nd May Fri 10 th July Attend the History Module Allocations Meeting. Module allocation instructions sent out by department. List of the History modules running in including the DRAFT timetable will be available. Departmental module preference forms open at 9am Tuesday and preferences must be submitted midnight on Sunday. University Online Module Choice system opens. SINGLE HISTORY - Do NOT submit HST modules to the University Online Module Choice system, until the dept. releases the list of allocated modules. DUALISTS if your dual dept. allocates modules on a first-come, first-served basis submit the following HST modules to the University Online Module Choice System, to ensure you have 120 credits: Students entering Level 2: HST202, HST2091, HST2092 Students entering Level 3: HST3000, HST398, HST3302 NB. This will ensure you are not disadvantaged in selecting your dual dept. modules. These HST modules will be rejected and once available, you will need to submit your allocated HST modules. Department allocates students to modules. History Module Allocations published on History Online (MOLE). Students submit HST modules to the University Online Module Choice system. Exam results released. Registry Services will provide information about completing your registration.

List of the History modules running in 2015-16 including the DRAFT timetable will be available.

4 Level 2 Modules Core modules HST202: Historians and History (all students). Taught through lectures / seminars / office hours Document options available in both semesters; detailed studies of a historical theme or event with particular focus on source analysis. Lectures / seminars / office hours Examples: Aztecs 1066 and All That Munich Crisis Option modules first and second semester. Detailed studies of periods / themes. Lectures / seminars / office hours Examples: Rome and Its Empire The History of Terrorism Gender, Culture & Society Course assignment 5,000 word essay tied to either a document option or option module. Workshops and individual supervisions.

6 What? 5,000 word extended essay. How? Study alongside a Document Option or Option module. When? Either Semester 1 or 2. (Year group will be split 50:50) Teaching? Supervisor, seminars & workshops. Course Assignment Preferences? Nominate top three preferences. Restrictions Can only be taken with HST modules, not FCA or EAS.

7 Dual Honours Degree Structure Compulsory Module HST202 (Semester 1) Must take at least one option module from History - total of 40 credits. Option Modules? Can take 20 credits outside History unrestricted. No banding requirements for dual students. Generally 60 credits in History and 60 credits in dual.

8 Timetable Please check your timetable carefully, particularly if you are taking in modules outside of History. We work closely with our Dual Departments to ensure the minimum number of timetable problems. If you find you have a timetable problem please get in touch with the department as soon as possible and we will look into possible resolutions.

10 Key Information It is not allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Preferences submitted on time will be given priority over late submissions. Do not take more than 70 credits per semester.
