1 2012/2013 Programme Specification Data Programme Name Programme Number Programme Award QAA Subject Benchmark Statements Foundation Degree Sport Studies/School of Education P12568 Foundation Degree (FdA) Sport Studies n/a Programme Aims This programme is intended for students wishing to work professionally with children 0-8 years or who are working with children in this age group and wish to add to their qualification. The aims of the programme are to: Produce Early Childhood practitioners equipped to play professional roles in the workplace Provide opportunities for students to develop skills and knowledge in the Early Years sector Develop critical, analytical problem-based learning skills and transferable skills to prepare students for progression to other higher education and lifelong learning opportunities Provide high quality education for the benefit of local and national communities Develop students' communication skills visual, interpersonal, written and ICT Potential career destinations Graduates from this programme could gain employment in a supervisory management capacity within the Early Years sector. Further opportunities may be found within Social Services and child related agencies. Students may progress to the BA Hons in Early Childhood Studies or related top-up programmes.
