17 Innovations An integrated platform with a Java based middleware providing ITS services and facilities: Applications are thus easy to develop. State of the art communication subsystem: Including the latest achievements (IPv6, Network Mobility Basic Support, Multiple Careof Adresses) solving issues such as address space shortage, network address translation, address autoconfiguration, multihoming, permanent addresses etc. FAST, that can be used for efficient and quick communication with no fixed network infrastructure: about available services. exchange packets between vehicles travelling with high speed. Doing all this with open and standardized interfaces NVTF
18 Summary CVIS/COMM today Open design, open software, open platform One platform for all CVIS test sites (easy maintenance) True layered architecture All communication links are supported always on Highly versatile middleware supporting any application Applications do not know nor care on link or platform Interactive standardisation work (ISO/CALM, IEEE/WAVE, ETSI,, CEN, IETF) Highly versatile platform for upcoming European Field Operational test sites NVTF
