3 A L A LETTER FROM THE PASTOR Dear Friends, Bonjour, Hej, Hallo, Aloha, Ciao, Hau, Goddag, Czesc, Hello! So many different words, yet they all mean the same thing a warm gree ng of welcome and hospitality. And that is what I offer you my brothers and sisters, as we an cipate the great feast of Pentecost and our annual commitment of our Stewardship of Parish Ministries on the weekend of May As we celebrate the birth of our Church and the coming of the Holy Spirit, we will hear from the Acts of the Apostles: they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues yet they all spoke of the mighty acts of God. This was their language of love. This was how they con nued the mission and ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. That same Holy Spirit breathes on us and sends us forth to be His Church today! And so as we prepare to make our annual commitment of our me and talent, I ask each and every one of you: What is your language of love? How do you express your love for God, His Kingdom, and His people? Each of us is called by God and summoned by the Holy Spirit to live the Gospel mandate in different ways. For some it may be in the ministry of healing for some, the ministry of catechesis and s ll for others, it may be the ministry of praise and worship. No ma er what your language of love is, I encourage you to speak it with great joy and convic on. The work of the Kingdom remains unfinished, and we need your voice, your gi to bring it to comple on. I invite you to use this Ministry Handbook and Commitment Form as a resource in this discernment process. Please complete the enclosed/a ached Commitment Form and be prepared to offer your language of love before the table of the Lord at one of the Masses on the weekend of May With gra tude for the many ways you express your love for the Lord and His Kingdom, and on behalf of our en re Stewardship Team, I say with great sincerity of heart: Merci, Grazie, Dziekuje, Gracias, Asante, Thank you! - From Connected for Good: A Gameplan For A Generous Life By John Stanley Your true self, then, is a reflec on of God, the facet of God you re asked to bring to the world. As a steward of your resources, you have the freedom to decide where to direct those resources. The best guidance for making those decisions will come from your heart the headline issues you react to emo onally, the personal struggles that have affected you, the moments when you encounter others in need, and the s ll small voice of God that speaks to you. Giving from your heart s desire is not selfish those tender places have been given to you for a reason, to provoke you to ac on and deep engagement. Knowing your heart lets you take a strong stance and say yes or no from a place of confidence and compassion. People grow when they have a chance to use their talents a talent put to prac- ce turns into a strength. When people get a chance to do what they do well, they look and feel like naturals. This truth applies to the marketplace and to the context of our generosity. Claim your strengths, star ng with presence, and spend them. You ll grow and others will too. [Look] for opportuni es where your energy is spent on crea ng change rather than ge ng mo vated to show up. Look for opportuni es where you end the volunteer assignment feeling triumphant and enthusias c, even when you re red. When you re doing work that calls on your strengths, they con nue to develop, o en by leaps and bounds, because your passion drives you forward. Fr. Tony
