1 New England HERC New Member Packet Executive Summary FY12-13 The New England Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) was established to advance the efforts of its member institutions to recruit and retain outstanding and diverse faculty and staff, and to support dual- career couples. In October 2006, dozens of regional higher education institutions and affiliated teaching hospitals joined together to launch the New England HERC, the largest higher education job board in New England. Since 2006, the consortium has grown to more than 65 member institutions and over 20,000 highly educated jobseekers have registered on the website. The website lists thousands of academic jobs and administrative jobs in New England, more than comparable offerings of the Chronicle of Higher Education and HigherEdJobs. Distinguishing features of the website include: centralized job postings, dual- career searches, a directory of regional resources, as well as lifestyle and dual- career resources. There are currently 14 regional HERCs with over 600 HERC member institutions in 24 states. Combined, the HERC sites have over 14,000 jobs and more than 155,000 registered jobseekers. All New England HERC member jobs receive local exposure on and national exposure on the Central HERC website Benefits for Institutions Unlimited access to advertising all staff, faculty, and executive jobs Local and national exposure for all postings Additional resources to help dual- career couples Institutions are prominently featured on the website Opportunity to expand and diversify applicant pools Network with other institutions at members- only meetings and workshops Benefits for Jobseekers One- stop shopping for faculty, staff, and medical positions Gateway to some of the largest employers in the Mid- Atlantic Customized dual- career searches and job alerts Regional, lifestyle, and dual- career resources Free and easy to use

3 New England HERC Membership Dues New England HERC annual dues rates are based on full- time student enrollment and private/public status for schools, and on full- time employees (and/or hospital beds) for non- schools. Membership discounts can reduce dues, such as 5% for early payment (July 15), 20% for consortia that join as a block (e.g. the Boston Consortium, Colleges of the Fenway, etc.) and 5%+ for new member recruitment. New England HERC prorates dues for institutions that join after the fiscal year has started and for any interruptions in service (e.g. technical problems, communications issues) that preclude jobs receiving their full exposure. We also offer 4- month trials.
