1 Introduction The University of Liverpool is a comprehensive research-intensive University and a member of the elite Russell Group of leading UK research Universities. Liverpool is proud of its position as one of the most successful universities for widening participation in high-quality research-led degree level education. Building on its global academic reputation, the University was the first in the UK to open an independent university in China. XJTLU is a new international university run in partnership between the University of Liverpool and Xi'an Jiaotong University in China. Liverpool also delivers a broad portfolio of taught Masters and Professional doctorates wholly online in partnership with Laureate of Baltimore. Learning and Teaching at Liverpool is based on a Faculty structure that encourages and facilitates collaboration across traditional discipline boundaries and brings a world-class research culture into close relation with curriculum content and design, state of the art facilities and learning resources, and a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in teaching. We are characterised by a long and powerful tradition of education for the professions in the clinical and clinical-related areas, the central disciplines in Science and Engineering, and a range of Humanities and Social Science subjects including a fast-growing and innovative School of Management. The University is committed to: i. Working in partnership with students at all levels. ii. Receiving and responding to feedback in order to improve the quality of the student experience. iii. Fostering and maintaining excellence in our learning and teaching by ensuring the best possible outcomes for our graduates, at all level of programmes. iv. Achieving excellence in student experience by designing, delivering and refining internationally relevant, research-enriched curricula. v. Empowering Liverpool graduates from all backgrounds with the skills, knowledge and capabilities that will help them flourish in their professions and step with confidence on to the global stage. This framework sets out the focus of the campus-based University and Faculty activity that underpins the provision of a high quality student experience and is linked to the University Performance Framework. Each Faculty and professional services area should use the framework in the planning cycle and as the context for setting and developing its strategy for learning and teaching. The key indicators to measure success in Faculty L&T strategies are to: Increase the proportion of graduates who achieve a 1 st and 2.1 degree (KPI5) linked to specific performance indicators for entry tariff, retention, progression and value added. Increase overall student satisfaction as measured by national and international surveys (KPI6) resulting in improvement of our position in national and international league tables. Maintain and increase the proportion of graduates who are in employment or further study six months after completing their studies (KPI7). Grow the numbers and mix of the student population (KPI8) linked to continuing to attract quality applicants onto our programmes and increasing the proportion of postgraduate and overseas/international students. Sustain our reputation for widening participation by maintaining the proportion of income spent on outreach activity (KPI9) and our performance against WP Benchmarks (KPI10).
