3 EGYPT is ON the Rise! Our Jan25 Revolution has been an unprecedented success in Modern history. Jan25 marked the day where EGYPT returned back to Egyptians. The new "mainstream" Egypt needs another Egyptian Revolution of a developmental nature across all directions, political, economic, social, judicial, legislative,..etc. Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) needs to be in the core, mind and heart of all Egyptians building New Egypt. Democracy & Freedom constitute the underlying fuel for I&E to grow and flourish, and which were highly suppressed by the old regime, but not anymore!.

Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Started on Oct TIEC's main role and objective is to act as a catalyst and a hub between different stakeholders of the ecosystem, universities, entrepreneurs, startups, financing, SMEs, and MNCs. TIEC's is not a fund for incubation, however more of a channeling entity between sources of funds (Grants/Social funds/go & NGO funds/vcs/seed) and target beneficiaries (entrepreneurs, young graduates, SMEs and small startups). 15 Collaborative Innovation Network - COIN The purpose of the Network is to foster innovation in the ICT Sector in Egypt by developing a network of participants from the industry and academia to share experiences, lessons learnt, technology trends, opportunities and challenges..etc. Networking Events are held on regular basis (every Quarter), The network met 4 times till now since April 2010 and the 5 th is in June Networking Events motivate collaboration among network members through Knowledge Transfer, Technology Transfer. it also acts as an interactive awareness program for National and International R&D Collaboration Opportunities, Emerging Technologies, Global and Local Trends, Innovation Management Systems and Local ICT Support Services & Programs. 16 Calling all Innovators : Bilmasry Competition This first of its kind mobile competition for Egypt offered special prizes Developers were asked to create an application, a piece of content, or a Web Runtime widget that is relevant to the Egyptian market 200 Applicants Top 10 Awarded prizes Winner ERWAA (incubation)

17 Entrepreneurial capacity Building With the cooperation and support of the: Government of Denmark U.S. State Department s Global Entrepreneurship Program (GEP) United States Agency for International Development s (USAID) An intensive week long training program is being organized for 24 Egyptian entrepreneurship teams as part of an activity branded under the name The NexGen IT Entrepreneurship Master Class. This Class will be taught by successful young entrepreneurs from the United States and Denmark, who will provide mentoring sessions and facilitate round table discussions. At the end of the Master Class NexGen Entrepreneurs will be asked to pitch their projects and four winning teams will be announced. CNN Interview June 13 th. :

18 Smart Tokens / PKI Capacity Building Due to the importance of Smart Cards /Tokens in the next era in Egypt in addition to the believe of the Government in moving to the next step TIEC took the initiative and will run a competition for Undergraduates and Employees from Egyptian companies to design applications and solutions based on Smart card/token for the benefit of the Society The competition will be announced July 1 st.

19 Nokia / TIEC Mobility Initiative Two new initiatives mlabs & MobileMonday This agreement aims to support the Government to maximize the direct and indirect impacts of mobile technologies for socio-economic development, as well as the creation of a viable national innovation ecosystem of local content and capacity building

20 Jan25 th. ICT Innovation Award To recognize Egyptian innovations developed by local small and medium organizations (SMEs) as well as large enterprises working in the ICT sector. Process Award 4 winners (3 SMEs 1 Large Company) Innovation voucher of up to 100 K LE Short movie The employee who was the key driver behind the innovation shall be awarded an ipad.
