2 LIFE & DISABILITY BENEFITS OFFERS YOUR EMPLOYEES' FAMILIES FINANCIAL PROTECTION Employees on assignment abroad need and expect at least the same terms of coverage from their employer as those available in their home country. As establishing themselves abroad, even for a few months, is an undertaking in itself, insurance protection shouldn t be among the things they have to worry about. A complete benefit plan is not only about medical coverage but also includes various additional benefits to ensure complete financial protection. Life and Disability Benefits offered by MSH INTERNATIONAL include several plans that provide this important protection to your employees and to their families in the event the unexpected occurs. Our Life and Disability benefits offer you two essential advantages that you may not find elsewhere: All the following benefits can be sold on a standalone basis Repatriation is not required to claim for disability or dismemberment benefits 1

4 LIFE BENEFITS LIFE INSURANCE Life Insurance provides protection against the loss of income resulting from death. Thus our members are assured that their family s future is protected, including the coverage of childcare expenses, mortgage and loan payments, school expenses, but also expenses like their own funeral costs, or simply the support of their family s lifestyle and day-to-day expenses. In the event of death, anywhere in the world, while employed with the policyholder and covered under this benefit, the applicable amount of life insurance is payable. This insurance is available to you until age 70. Our insured members are invited to re-evaluate their life insurance policies annually or when experiencing a major event in their lives. We are dedicated to providing you with flexible and cost effective plans which offer financial protection to your employees' families. 3

5 LIFE AND DISABILITY BENEFITS OPTIONAL LIFE Optional Life Insurance is available over and above any Life Insurance coverage you may already provide to your employees. This additional coverage allows your employees to tailor their insurance according to their specific needs. While basic Life Insurance provides a benefit amount mostly intended to help cover immediate expenses associated with death, Optional Life provides additional coverage above and beyond and allows members to choose the amount of coverage that fits their family s circumstances. 4

6 DISABILITY BENEFITS ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT (AD&D) AD&D benefits ensure financial security for your employees and their family in the case of accidental injury or death. The coverage applies to Accidental Death, Dismemberment, Loss of Sight and Paralysis. If such injuries shall result in anyone of these specific losses within one year from the date of Accident, the insurer will pay a Benefit, based upon the principal sum. LONG TERM DISABILITY (LTD) /WEEKLY INDEMNITY (WI) Weekly Indemnity offers short-term protection after a disability occurs in the period before a member is eligible for Long Term Disability benefits which will normally cover a member until he is able to return to work. Both Weekly Indemnity and Long Term Disability benefits offer a reasonable replacement of a portion of an employee s earned income lost through serious or prolonged illness or injury during the normal work career. Disability benefits offered by MSH INTERNATIONAL cover your employees abroad in the event they are unable to work following an injury or a sickness. 5

7 LIFE AND DISABILITY BENEFITS Prevalence of disability among adults, Canada, 2012 (Statistic CANADA) TEMPORARY TOTAL DISABILITY (TTD) & PERMANENT TOTAL DISABILITY (PTD) In the event your employees are unable to be insured under the Weekly Indemnity or Long Term Disability plans due to location, occupation or age, MSH INTERNATIONAL offers a solution with Temporary Total Disability and Permanent Total Disability benefits. Temporary Total Disability benefits are applied when an insured member is wholly and continually prevented from performing the major duties pertaining to his/her former occupation or profession. TTD benefits are similar to long term disability policies however benefits are usually only payable for short periods of time (i.e. less than 2 years). Permanent Total Disability benefits are applied when an insured member is disabled beyond hope of improvement and, in the opinion of the medical referees will be wholly and permanently prevented for the remainder of his or her life from engaging in any occupation for which he/she is reasonably suited by virtue of education, training, and experience. PTD benefits may be offered in conjunction with TTD benefits and offer a lump sum payment, after a certain period of disability, or period of TTD payments. 6
