1 INVITATION Export Promotion in Myanmar November th, 2014 Based on the success of last year s export promotion, we invite you to make Myanmar your new export market along with CLEAN, Danish Water Technology Group, and the new Royal Danish Embassy in Myanmar. The new Ambassador to Myanmar welcomes Danish companies to Myanmar-Danish Energy and Water Days 2014, where we have the honor of participation by the Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation. Peter Lysholt Hansen, Ambassador to Myanmar Mogens Jensen, Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation Myanmar (Burma) is a highly interesting market, which the world's donors and businesses are turning their attention towards. Myanmar is developing rapidly and is implementing a process of democratization as well as opening up to other countries, which over the past 3 years has created unparalleled optimism and development. Over the course of the next 10 years Myanmar is expected to receive more than 2 billion USD annually for infrastructure, with the water and energy sectors being the initial focus areas. Due to the fact that both water and energy are scarce resources in Myanmar, private companies are searching for viable solutions to improve energy efficiency. CLEAN has already initiated a number of projects in Myanmar, and is thus one of the first international groups to sign agreements with the authorities. Our experience is that Danish energy and water technology and know-how is a strong international brand that is preferred by both utilities and policy makers in Myanmar. Myanmar is in need of massive renovation throughout the energy and water sectors. By participating in this Export Promotion, Danish companies, consultants, manufacturers and contractors will have great business opportunities. This export promotion is specifically targeting businesses in Myanmar with large energy and water usage, as well as water and wastewater treatment in the major cities. Eleven Danish companies participated in last year s promotion, and they all agreed it was a great success. (Pictured below.) This year s is expected to be even better.

3 BACKGROUND INFORMATION CLEAN is a leading cleantech network and one of the strongest green project organizations in Denmark, working to support Cleantech business development in the field of energy and climate technology, both in Denmark and internationally. CLEAN promotes energy efficiency based on sustainability throughout the value chain of the entire energy system, thereby generating substantial energy savings to our customers. We develop financial solutions in cooperation with a network of Danish companies and financial partners. CLEAN partners include contractors, consultants, product suppliers and utilities, as well as advisory and educational institutions. The organization collects, coordinates and communicates relevant knowledge and expertise from a number of Danish companies and utilities to countries in Asia and Eastern Europe. (CLEAN is a merger of Lean Energy Cluster, Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, Danish Water Services and Danish Energy Solutions.) Current Projects in Myanmar NRW project in Yangon In 2013 Yangon City Development Cooperation signed an agreement with us for a NRW project in Yangon. The project is implemented in a publicprivate partnership, initially with VCS Denmark and Grontmij. The Feasibility Study has already been completed. Breweries in Myanmar An agreement for energy optimization in the Brewery and Distillery Sector is also underway. Market report Myanmar A free copy of the Myanmar Market Report will be distributed to all participants. The report includes information about the economic forecast, geography, demographics, water sector, energy sector, WEPA, ADB, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, DANIDA and EKF activities in the country. The market report names Danish companies operating in Myanmar and describes business etiquette, as well as listing water and energy laws, responsible authorities and departments in Myanmar in the water and energy sectors with contact details. There are several additional energy and water related projects in the pipeline. Additionally, each of the participating companies will have a possibility to include a one page presentation in the Directory that will be handed out to all the participants and relevant authorities in Myanmar. Each company can bring additional POS material (posters, roll-up, brochures).
