3 Overview Report to be released by Bay Area Council later this spring. Goal: to raise awareness of current flood risks facing the Bay Area and the economic impacts a major flood would have, and to share recommendations. Uses a scenario approach to estimate a plausible extreme storm for analysis.

16 Recommendations Infrastructure Support the development of cost effective structural and non structural strategies; Account for sea level rise projections. Funding Identify new and expand existing local, regional, state and federal funding for flood infrastructure investment. Prioritization Identify and prioritize projects necessary to protect key economic assets (i.e. transport, power, water, wastewater, employment centers, and communications). Planning Incorporate community resilience to extreme storms into Hazard Mitigation and General Plans. Leverage new development; Incorporate climate change predictions into flood risk analyses.
