1 ELECTRICITY TARIFF (Effective from September 1, 1999.) * Payment period of electricity bill without surcharge is 30 days. * For late payment, 2% per month is applicable to all classes consumers. * The maximum load-sanction for LT consumers is 50 KW. * Govt. electricity duty is 15 paisa per unit. 2 TARIFF CATEGORIES AND RATES RATE : CATEGORY - A : RESIDENTIAL LIGHT & POWER To the electricity service through a single watthour meter for lighting and appliances used in a dwelling place including related grounds and buildings, having sanctioned load upto 50 KW. (i) Monthly consumption upto 300 KWh : Tk per KWh (ii) (iii) Monthly consumption from 301 Kwh upto 500 Kwh Monthly consumption from 501 Kwh upto 700 Kwh : Tk per KWh : Tk per KWh (iv) Monthly consumption in excess of 700 KWh : Tk per KWh 3. Demand Charge : : Tk per KW of sanctioned 4. Service Charge : (i) For single phase supply : Tk per month (ii) For three phase supply : Tk per month 5. Minimum Charge : Tk per month RATE : CATEGORY - B : AGRICULTURAL PUMPING To the electricity service through a single watthour meter for irrigation and drainage of the land for the purpose of cultivation, having sanctioned load upto 50 KW. For all units consumed per month : Tk per KWh 1

RATE : CATEGORY - C : SMALL INDUSTRIAL To the electricity service through a single watthour meter for small industry where articles or substances are produced, adopted, manufactured, altered, repaired, ornamented, finished, packed, or treated from raw materials with a view to their use, sale, transport, delivery and disposal, having sanctioned load upto 50 KW. a) Prior to installation of two part time of day meter. For all units consumed per month : Tk per KWh b) After installation of two part time of day meter (i) Off-peak hours use : Tk per KWh (ii) Peakhours use : Tk per KWh 3. Demand Charge for sanctioned load above 40 KW : Tk per KW per month 4. Service Charge : Tk per month 5. Minimum Charge : Not applicable 2
4 RATE : CATEGORY - D : NON-RESIDENTIAL LIGHT & POWER To the electricity service through a single watthour meter for hospitals, educational institutions, religious & charitable establishments and all classes of consumers other than those specified under category A, B, C, E & J having sanctioned load upto 50 KW. 2. Unit Rate : (i) For all units consumed per month : Tk per KWh 3. Demand Charge : Tk per KW of sanctioned 4. Service Charge : (i) For single phase supply : Tk per month (ii) For three phase supply : Tk per month 5. Minimum Charge : Tk per KW of sanctioned RATE : CATEGORY - E : L.T. COMMERCIAL To the electricity service through a single watthour meter for offices, trading and commercial enterprises such as shops, businesses, hotels & cinema halls, having sanctioned load upto 50 KW. 3

Demand Charge : Tk per KW of sanctioned 4. Service Charge : (i) Single phase, 230 volts : Tk per month (ii) Three phase, 400 volts : Tk per month 5. Minimum Charge : Tk per KW of sanctioned RATE : CATEGORY - F : MEDIUM VOLTAGE GENERAL PURPOSE (11 KV) To the electricity service through energy and demand meters for all classes consumers having sanctioned load upto 5 MW, where the consumer provides his own sub-station, including transformer, high tension control, protection and power factor correction equipment. a) Prior to installation of two part time of day meter. For all units consumed per month : Tk per KWh b) After installation of two part time of day meter (i) Off-peak hours use : Tk per KWh (ii) Peak hours use : Tk per KWh 4

Demand Charge : Tk per KW of maximum demand per month i) Prior to installation of demand meter : given bellow : The billing demand during the whole monthly billing period will be calculated as per formula Calculation of maximum demand : In absence of maximum demand meter, the maximum demand of the consumer s service may be determined by the following percentage factors : 100% for the first 75 KW of connected load. 85% for the next 75 KW of connected load. 75% for the next 75 KW of connected load. 65% for the next 75 KW of connected load. 60% for the rest of the connected load. ii) After installation of demand meter : The billing demand during the whole monthly billing period will be determined by suitable demand meter for 30 minutes intergrated period. 4. Service Charge : Tk per month 5. Minimum Charge : Tk per KW. per month of sanctioned load or major fraction thereof but not less than Tk per month. The minimum charge is not applicable for potato preservation cold storage during off season i. e. for the month of December and January. For consumers having sanctioned load below 50 KW, supply at 11 KV may also be provided subject to the agreement between the Board and the consumer concerned, on cost allocation of the lines and other equipment. 5
7 For medium voltage bulk consumers having predominently (about 80%) residential consumption as in the institution campus, cantonment and similar large complex where single point metering system is existing, the total energy recorded will be billed in two parts, as per schedule bellow : Prior to installation of bulk residential meter. 20% of consumption under category F 80% consumption under category A The 80% consumpton charged under category A shall be subdivided into two parts for the purpose of billing, as per schedule bellow : 90% of consumption under slab 1 of category A 10% of consumption under slab 3 of category A After installation bulk residential meter 90% of consumption under slab 1 category A 10% of consumption under slab 3 of category A RATE : CATEGORY - G-1 : EXTRA HIGH VOLTAGE DESA (132 KV) 1. Energy Charge : Flat Rate : Tk per KWh RATE : CATEGORY - G-2 : EXTRA HIGH VOLTAGE GENERAL (132 KV) To the electricity service through energy and demand meter for all classes of consumers other than DESA receiving power at 132 KV, having contracted load upto 150 MW other than DESA where the consumer provides his own sub-station, including transformer and high tension control, protective and power factor correction equipment 1. Energy Charge : i) Time : Tk per KWh ii) Time : Tk per KWh iii) Time : Tk per KWh iv) Time : Tk per KWh v) Flat Rate : Tk per KWh 6
8 RATE : CATEGORY - H : HIGH VOLTAGE GENERAL PURPOSE (33 kv) To the electricity service through energy and demand meter for all classes of consumers other than REB/PBS receiving power at 33 KV, having contracted load upto 15 MW other than REB/PBS where the consumer provides his own sub-station, including transformer and high tension control, protective and power factor correction equipment. a) Prior to installation of two part time of day meter. For all units consumed per month : Tk per KWh b) After installation of two part time of day meter (i) Off-peak hours use : Tk per KWh (ii) Peak hours use : Tk per KWh 3. Demand Charge : Tk per KW per month 4. Prior to installation of demand meter : The billing demand during the whole monthly billibg period will be calculated as per formula given under, Demand charge on page 5 in the booklet. 5. After installation of demand meter : The billing demand during the whole monthly billing period will be determined by suitable demand meter for 30 minutes intergrated demand. 6. 9 RATE : CATEGORY - I : HIGH VOLTAGE BULK SUPPLY FOR RURAL ELECTRIFICATION OF BOARD/ PALLI BIDDYUT SAMITI To the electricity service through energy and demand meter for REB/PBS receiving power at 33 KV, having contracted load upto 15 MW, where the consumer provides his own transformer, high tension control, protective and power factor correction equipment. For all units consumed per month : i) From PDB to Rural Electrification Board : Tk per KWh ii) From DESA to Rural Electrification Board : Tk per KWh 3. Demand Charge : Not applicable 4. Service Charge : Tk per month 5. Minimum Charge : Not 2% of the total billed amount per month or part thereof for the period of delay, if he does not pay the 8
10 RATE : CATEGORY - J : STREET LIGHT AND WATER PUMPS. To the electricity service through a single watt-hour meter for Pourasava, WASA and Public Health for the purpose of street lighting and drinking water pumping stations having sanctioned load upto 50 KW. For all units consumed per month : Tk per KWh 3. Demand Charge : Tk per KW of sanctioned. 4. Service Charge : Tk per month 5. Minimum Charge : Not applicable 9
