Staff Accountants are expected to become familiar with the firm'spolicies and procedures, understand the rules, regulations and code of professional conduct of the AmericanInstitute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and progress professionally by working toward passingthe CPA exam as soon as possible. Staff Accountants may have passed the CPA exam, however, this is not arequirement for this level. Staff Accountants are required by the firm to obtain a minimum of 24 hours ofcontinuing professional education annually, although 40 hours is recommended.if assigned primarily to financial statement engagements. Staff Accountants are expected to become familiarwith the pronouncements of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the AICPA, and whenassigned to governmental engagements, the General Accounting Office (GAO) and GovernmentalAccounting Standards Board (GASB).
