1 Southeast Missouri State University Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems Computer Information Systems (CIS) focuses on software development in specific application areas. Computer Science focuses more deeply on the scientific, engineering, and theoretical aspects of computing. The goal of both programs is the education of software developers the people who create the software tools and systems that are used by others. The CIS program has many course choices either for applying computing in different application areas or for specializing in different computing disciplines. The CIS Program offers great flexibility through nine different tracks, five of which require a specific minor. The Business Administration track can be completed fully online. The nine tracks are: Track 1 Business Administration Track 2 Commerce Track 3 Game Programming Track 4 Information Assurance Track 5 Multimedia Programming Track 6 Networking Track 7 Science Track 8 Web Page Design and Multimedia Programming Track 9 Web Programming CIS students take an 82-hour program which includes, apart from general education courses, 48 semester hours of a required core of information systems and computer science, six hours of mathematics courses (applied calculus and probability & statistics), various other supplemental courses, and either a minor or a set of advised courses. Several of our students do internships with companies interested in hiring our graduates or at schools with summer research programs funded by the National Science Foundation.
