7 The Student Health Insurance Plan may be the best alternative and here s why. The student health insurance plan is tailored specifically for the student lifestyle, no matter what the age of the student, even if they are older than 26. Some things to consider when looking at the student health insurance plan is how the price and coverage compare to their current family, individual or COBRA plan.
8 Have your own Health Insurance? If you have your own health insurance or are covered under someone else s plan, you may waive the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Waiver requests must be submitted by September 15 th This waives SHIP for the entire academic year You must submit a new waiver at the beginning of each academic year in your SOLAR account. If you do not submit a waiver by September 15 th you will be billed, even if you have other health insurance. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you miss the Fall deadline OR are an incoming student for the Spring Semester, the you are eligible to waive between: January 1 st through February 15 th This will waive the Spring semester charge ONLY.
9 How To Use the Insurance Plan and Claim Benefits Always carry your Aetna insurance ID card If you have not received your card, go online to to print out your ID card Show the card to medical personnel in the hospital or doctor s office Read your insurance plan It explains how the insurance plan works Plan Design and Benefits Summary on Aetna s website.
