3 About these Release Notes These Release Notes contain important information about known issues, fixed issues and design limitations present in SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0 Support Packages. To see whether known issues in one Support Package are fixed in a subsequent Support Package, use the ADAPT number of the known issue to search within the PDF. Before installing the software, we recommend that you read the entire document. Support Package 2 contains all SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 SP01 Patches up to and including Patch 1.4. 4 Known Issues and Limitations for SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Suite 4.0 Support Package 1 Web Intelligence: Concurrent access write on files should not be allowed ADAPT Concurrent access write on business object files results in corrupted files and server timeout. Universe Designer: Refresh and save XI 3.1 or previous universes based on SAP driver before modifying them ADAPT When a universe created with a BusinessObjects Enterprise version prior to XI 3.1 SP2 is opened, you must refresh and save the universe before making any changes to the universe or the OLAP source. This only applies to universes that are using the SAP connectivity driver. Web Intelligence: Optional tags limitation for pre-defined filters ADAPT You cannot use Optional tags for pre-defined filters in Web Intelligence. If you use an Optional tag, it will be treated as a mandatory part of the query, preventing the query from running. Information design tool: Selecting business objects in the SQL Editor for function may result in invalid syntax ADAPT In the SQL Editor for a business layer, when creating expression, selecting an object in the Business Layer panel may result in invalid syntax in expression. Information design tool: Cardinality not detected for column filters ADAPT Cardinality of the column filters (also known as auto-joins or self-joins) in the data foundation tables is never detected. Information design tool: Business layer name is replaced with universe name when retrieving a published universe ADAPT When a published universe is retrieved either from a repository or a local folder, the original business layer resource name is replaced with the universe name. Information design tool: Calculated column SQL generation fails for fully-qualified columns ADAPT When creating a calculated column, the SQL generation fails if the columns are fully-qualified. 1/33

5 Translation management tool: Translated prompt name is shown after translation is removed at universe level ADAPT When translating Web Intelligence documents based on a universe containing prompts, the translation management tool allows you to translate the prompts. For performance purposes, the Web Intelligence document keeps a copy of the universe's prompts in cache. To avoid inconsistencies between the translations saved in the universe and the translations saved in cache for the Web Intelligence document, it is recommended to translate only the prompts in the universe, and to not translate the ones that have been copied in the Web Intelligence document. In case of inconsistencies, you may also use the translation management tool to remove the translations of the prompts copied in the Web Intelligence document. This restriction exists since XI3.0. Information design tool: In data foundations with missing connections, cannot create joins or set cardinality ADAPT If a connection is missing for a data foundation, in the data foundation editor, you cannot set the cardinality of a join manually, and you cannot create a join. Information design tool: SQL for objects created in a business layer with a missing data foundation or connection is not saved ADAPT When creating SQL for objects in a business layer, if the data foundation or connection is missing, the SQL is not saved when saving the business layer. Information design tool: Moving universes between folders unavailable in Repository Resources view ADAPT In the Repository Resources view, it is not possible to move a universe or set of universes between folders. Information design tool: Error displaying tables in data foundation Connections pane for OLEDB drivers ADAPT In the Connections pane of the data foundation, if the Show Qualifier and Owner icon is not selected, no tables are listed for connections based on OLEDB. Information design tool: Problem deleting tables when search panel is open ADAPT In the data foundation, if the search panel is open and you delete a table from the display, the table is not actually deleted. Workaround: Close the search panel before deleting the table, or delete the table from the Tables folder in the data foundation navigation tree. 2/33

6 Information design tool: Queries containing columns with data type sql_variant are not supported ADAPT Table columns with data type of sql_variant are displayed in the data foundation and can be used to build business objects. However, the Connection Server does not support the sql_variant data type. Any query involving a column with this data type returns an error. Information design tool: For SAP NetWeaver BW relational connections, incorrect mapping of some cube attributes in the business layer ADAPT When creating a business layer automatically from a data foundation based on an SAP NetWeaver BW connection, key figures that appear in the cube as attributes only are incorrectly generated as measures in the business layer. Lifecycle Manager: Wrong icons displayed for Project Entry, Connection Shortcut and Universe. ADAPT Icons for Project Entry, Connection Shortcut and Universe are not as per the Information Design Tool. Dashboard Design: Prompt Dependency ADAPT The "Prompt Dependency" feature will be implemented in a later release. Dashboard Design: The List of Values option of "Force users to filter values before use" is not supported for universes ADAPT When defining a universe query in Dashboard Design, if the option "Force users to filter values before use" for a List of Values is turned on for the universe, the option won't take effect in the Dashboard Design workflow. (i.e. user will still be able to see all values when the List of Values is used.) To avoid performance issues, limit the number of LOV items, instead of using the option "Force users to filter values before use". Information design tool: Compute Statistics can have poor performance ADAPT When computing statistics for a multisource universe or business layer, in many cases the computation takes longer than expected. Workaround: Once the Compute Statistics is launched, you can minimize the Compute Statistics dialog box and continue to work in the information design tool. If you launch the command from the Business Layer Editor, do not close the editor until the computation is complete. Information design tool: Automatic join creation fails for some joins ADAPT If a database join expression includes only table names and no column names, creating a join in the data foundation fails. 3/33

7 Live Office: Refresh with prompt value change may fail ADAPT In a Web Intelligence document, a Live Office object that is in a section may fail to refresh if you change the prompt value. Avoid this failure by retaining the prompt value during a refresh. Information design tool: Possible connection errors for multisource universes ADAPT In order to design and test multi-source universes, install the following middleware to avoid test connection errors and improper connection behavior in multisource-enabled data foundations: - 32-bit connectivity middleware must be installed and configured on the physical machine where information design tool is installed bit connectivity middleware must be installed and configured on the physical machine where server components are installed. Web Intelligence: Nested prompts not supported in Query as a Web Service ADAPT A technical limitation prevents Query as a Web Service (QaaWS) from supporting nested prompts. If you use a Nested Prompt to create a QaaWS, you get an error: "getdatasourceobjectlov exception (Error: WRE 99998)" Information design tool: Show Values in Connection Editor fails for Informix connections ADAPT In the Connection Editor, the Show Values tab generates an ODBC error for Informix connections. Analysis, edition for OLAP: Product locale connection setting ignored ADAPT When defining an SAP BW OLAP connection in the CMC with a stored product locale, the product locale will not be respected when using the connection in an Analysis edition for OLAP workspace. The workaround is to leave the language locale in the connection definition empty, and then change the product locale in the BI launch pad preferences. The data and metadata from the connection will then be the same as the locale used for the BI launch pad. Web Intelligence Rich Client Query Panel - multiple selection of objects not possible ADAPT Query Panel - Details selected together (multiselection) can't be dragged and dropped from the Universe outline to Result Objects panel. Dashboard Design: Missing folder in install package ADAPT In the installation wizard, text on the Prerequisite checking page states: For a complete list of supported platforms, see the Supported Platforms document available in the..\collaterals \doc\lang folder for this installation package." This folder does not exist in the current release. 4/33

8 Information design tool: Show values command returns error on an alias table with a space in the name ADAPT In a data foundation, if you run the command Show Table Values on an alias table that contains a space in the table name, an incorrect syntax error occurs. Lifecycle Manager: Mismatches in the naming conventions for the InfoObjects in the 'Add Objects' screen ADAPT )InfoObject "local connection" is displayed as "local connection" in Job Home Page screen instead of "local connections" 2) "Connection Shortcut" type is displayed as "Secured Connection Shortcut". 3) Data foundation InfoObject is displayed as "Data foundation". 4) UNX universe type is displayed as "DSL.MetaDataFile" instead of "Universe". Information design tool: Compute statistics fails on universe with a replacement connection defined in a Data Security Profile ADAPT For a multisource universe, if a replacement connection is defined in a Data Security Profile, the Compute statistics command displays the tables and columns from the original connection and returns an error when trying to access the replacement connection. Information design tool: Joins not detected if tables are removed and re-inserted ADAPT In a data foundation based on SAP NetWeaver BW, if the tables are removed and reinserted in the data foundation, the Detect Joins command fails to re-detect joins. Removing Web Intelligence reports ADAPT Users attempting to remove a Web Intelligence report from the CMS database may encounter the following error message: "SDK failed to get document output". To resolve this, you will need to set the thread stack size for the Tomcat service. Use the following commands: 1. goto <installdir>/tomcat6/bin 2. Start the Tomcat admin program by running: tomcatw.exe //MS//BOEXI40Tomcat 3. In the Java tab, set the Thread Size to 1024 and click Apply. 4. Restart the Tomcat service. Information design tool: Problem creating derived table that in SELECT or WHERE ADAPT In the data foundation, when creating a derived table, if the SELECT or WHERE expression contains function, the derived table is created with no columns. 5/33

9 Web Intelligence Rich Client: Windows regional locale setting used if regional locale language is missing in the installed language packs ADAPT Web Intelligence Rich Client's Use Setup Locale option is not honoured but Windows regional locale setting is used or else EN is honoured if the regional locale language is not present in Web Intelligence Rich Client installed language packs. Web Intelligence: Search on Bex queries limitation ADAPT Search on Bex queries does not return queries that do not allow external access to this query. When "allowed to external acces to this query" is not selected in objects in Bex queries, these objects are not returned by the search. Information design tool: Editing a business filter in an OLAP business layer with missing connection returns error ADAPT When inserting a filter to a business layer with a missing OLAP connection, clicking Edit Filter returns an error instead of opening the Edit Custom Filter dialog box. Running install in repair mode ADAPT If customers using the Tomcat web application server run the installation program in repair mode they may find that Tomcat no longer runs properly. Analysis, edition for OLAP: On WebSphere 6.1, Analysis is not supported, and the OLAP connections page in the CMC is not accessible. ADAPT In SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 4.0, on IBM WebSphere 6.1 deployments, Analysis edition for OLAP is not supported, and the OLAP Connections page in the CMC is unavailable. OLAP connections, used by Analysis, Crystal Reports, and other products, cannot be created or modified through the CMC. Refer to the documentation for the Information design tool for alternative methods of creating and managing OLAP connections. An exception is thrown when a negative number is used in the metric equation ADAPT In the Monitoring application, while creating a derived metric from the metrics page, if you specify a negative number for the CPU Usage field, a string out of range exception is thrown. Translation management tool: Installed languages are not displayed in the Preferences list ADAPT The installed languages are not displayed in the Window/Preferences dialog box. You cannot change the locale for the translation manager tool by going to the Preferences. Workaround: To change the locale for the translation management tool, install the language pack and change the locale in the Regional Settings of the machine. 6/33

10 Information design tool: Project synchronization status incorrectly reported for secured resources ADAPT When synchronizing local resources that were retrieved from a secured universe (without the Save for all users option), the status of the synchronized resources on the server is Synchronized. The status should be Changed Locally. Unable to schedule user created probe from the Probes page ADAPT In the Monitoring application, when you run or schedule a user created probe, schedule failed error message is displayed. BI workspaces: Editing a translated tab or sub tab name ADAPT Translated pages (tabs or sub tabs) cannot be edited in the Preferred Viewing Locale (PVL). In order to edit, one must switch back to the default PVL. Web Intelligence: Cannot update a BEx query containing a replacement path variable ADAPT When running a BEx query, if a replacement path variable is selected, the text variable value is not automatically updated in the query panel and in the report. Workaround: Edit the query: 1) In the Query Panel, select Set Variables from the tool bar 2) In the Set variables dialog, enter a value for the variable 3) Run the query Web Intelligence and Web Intelligence Rich Client naming issue ADAPT Web Intelligence is sometimes referred to as interactive analysis in the documentation and application interface. Similarly, Web Intelligence Rich Client is sometimes referred to as interactive analysis desktop in the documentation and application interface. Custom and expand installations do not automatically register components to SLD server ADAPT When performing a custom/expand installation, you must select the System Landscape Data Supplier feature during the installation setup for SLD registration to work as expected. Information design tool and universe design tool: Defining ODBC DSN names ADAPT If the information design tool or universe design tool is using ODBC DSN for universe data sources, DSN with the same names should be created on the physical machine where server components are installed for the SAP BusinessObjects reporting applications that use the published universes. 7/33

11 Web Intelligence: displaying documents using images stored on a network location ADAPT Windows: Web Intelligence: displaying documents using images stored on a network location In order to display Web Intelligence documents using images stored on another machine, the service "Server intelligence Agent" must run with a user account that has rights to access the remote location. By default the product is installed to launch this service with "Local System" (account SYSTEM). This "Local System" account is not authorized to access remote shared folders. Choose a user or administrator account and verify the shared folder is accessible to this user. 1) Launch the "Central Configuration Management" from the Windows "Start" menu. 2) Select the entry "Server Intelligence Agent" and stop it. 3) Right click on this item and select "Properties", change the User / Password to a User account or Administrator having enough rights to access shared folders. 4) Restart the stopped service. Explorer: Recommended maximum number of dimensions in a query limited to 50. ADAPT When very large numbers of dimensions are selected in a query, a timeout can occur in the client application. It is recommended that no more than 50 dimensions are selected in a single query to assure query performance. This limitation is under investigation for future releases. Unable to display all alerts when the screen resolution is less than 1280 by 800 ADAPT In the Monitoring application, the complete list of alerts are not displayed on the Alerts page when the screen resolution is less than 1280 by 800. Web Intelligence: Some hierarchy nodes cannot be expanded in documents based on.unx universes ADAPT When a node is selected from a hierarchy in the Web Intelligence query panel and is selected as a filter object with a prompt, the node cannot be expanded in the Web Intelligence document. Web Intelligence Rich Client limitation: cannot be downloaded from InfoView ADAPT The option to download the Web Intelligence Rich Client from InfoView is currently disabled, the package can be installed from the media. 8/33

12 Web Intelligence documentation : BEx query missing information ADAPT Note the following information concerning the use of BEX queries for reporting in Web Intelligence is absent in the documentation: BEX Query flag "Allow External Access to the Query" This flag is allowed under the following circumstances: When switching on the flag, the system issues warning messages in case the BEx query includes features that are not manageable in Web Intelligence, for example, if specific formulas like 'Leaf(), #) are used in the BEx query. In this case, the BEx queries need to be redesigned according to the messages BEx Query default layout: The following are not supported in the default layout of the BEX query, Position of characteristics in Rows/Columns not supported Properties of characteristics (Key/Text Display) Filters set in the default values Local Calculations Local Calculations (such as "Ranks", "%Share of Result) should not be used because the results depend on the layout, which is not supported. Hierarchical measure structures Hierarchical measure structures will be flattened automatically Do not try to display an entire axis hierarchically (Display Rows/Columns hierarchically) Zero Suppression Zero Suppression should be switched off BEx Exceptions BEx Exceptions are not supported, create alerters in Web Intelligence reports BEx Conditions BEx Conditions are not supported. In Web Intelligence, create rank-like Conditions (Top/Bottom N) to recreate certain scenarios. Other conditions can be recreated in the Web Intelligence Query Panel. Platform Search fails to search and index after installing SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Explorer ADAPT Platform Search fails to search and index after installing SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Explorer. This problem is fixed. Web Intelligence Rich Client: Querying a local.unx universe returns error in offline or connected mode ADAPT In Web Intelligence Rich Client in offline or connected mode, selecting a.unx universe saved on the local file system returns an error. 9/33

13 Web Intelligence Rich Client: Unable to query multisource-enabled universes when in HTTP mode ADAPT Universes created based on a multisource-enabled data foundation in the information design tool cannot be queried in Web Intelligence Rich Client in HTTP mode. Web Intelligence and Universe extractors are disabled by default ADAPT Earlier, Web Intelligence and Universe extractors were disabled by default. This has been modified and from this release onwards, Web Intelligence and Universe extractors are enabled by default. Information design tool: Invalid characters are allowed in data foundation table names ADAPT When naming standard tables in the data foundation, double quotes are allowed but should be invalid. When naming alias tables, double and single quotes are allowed, but both should be invalid. Web Intelligence: Error Message hyperlink not working. ADAPT The error dialogs display an error message with a hyperlink to the description of the error. The hyperlinks don't work. For an explanation about the specific error messages, refer to the "Error Messages Explained" guide, available from the help portal. Crystal Reports for Enterprise: Cannot use a BEx query with replacement path variables as a data source ADAPT You cannot use a BEx query that contains a replacement path variable as a data source for a Crystal report. For information on a workaround for this issue, refer to the following Knowledge Base article: Web Intelligence Rich Client: unx multisource universes should not be displayed in offline mode ADAPT When using Web Intelligence Rich Client in offline mode, the unx multi source universes are inadvertently displayed in the list of available universes. They should not be displayed in the list of available universes. Information design tool: Renaming a connection when the data foundation is open causes an unresolved reference ADAPT If a connection is renamed when the data foundation containing this connection is open in the editor, the Connection panel displays an unresolved reference for the connection, even after changing the connection to the new name and clicking the Refresh icon. Workaround: Save and close the data foundation editor, and reopen the data foundation. 10/33

14 Crystal Reports for Enterprise: Buttons missing from Query panel when editing a query ADAPT When you edit an existing query, the following buttons are not displayed in the query panel: * Copy query specifications in clipboard * Paste query specifications from clipboard Copying a query specification over an existing query may corrupt your query. Since the options are not valid for editing, they are not displayed in the query panel. Crystal Reports for Enterprise: Using report bursting to create saved data indexes ADAPT Report Bursting indexes are used to increase the performance of a Crystal report by indexing its saved data. Indexes that you specify are created when you refresh the report's data. To index saved Data 1. Open your report in Crystal Reports. 2. On the Data menu, click Report Bursting Indexes. 3. In the Report Bursting Indexes dialog box, select the result objects that you want indexed within the saved data. 4. Click OK to return to Crystal Reports. 5. If you want to create the index immediately, refresh and save the report. Information design tool: Fully-qualified column names not supported if owner/ qualifer is default ADAPT In SQL expressions, if the table qualifier/owner is the default, fully-qualified column names (for example, Qualifier.owner.table_name.column_name ) are not supported. Crystal Reports for Enterprise does not support "Prompt" OLAP connection ADAPT Crystal Reports for Enterprise does not support the use of specifying an OLAP connection as "Prompt". Only user-specified or SSO connections are supported. Installing on Solaris Sparc 9 ADAPT Users installing on Solaris Sparc 9 may find that some of their SAP BusinessObjects servers are not starting or are starting with configuration errors. This problem occurs if the default number of semaphores for the SAP BusinessObjects Java project is less than /33

15 Incorrect service level, patch level and scnname displayed in SAP_metadata.Properties files when deploying to SAP NetWeaver using JSPM ADAPT Before deploying SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 Support Package 1 or later web applications to your SAP NetWeaver application server using Java Support Pack Manager (JSPM), the servicelevel, patchlevel and scnname parameters may display incorrect values and need to be corrected. To resolve the issue, ensure that each web application bundle's SAP_metadata.Properties file has their parameters set to the following values: 1. The parameters scnname and name need to use the same value. For example, if the name property is set to a value of BOEWEBAPPJAVA, then scnname property must also be set to BOEWEBAPPJAVA. 2. The parameters servicelevel and patchlevel must be set based on the version of Support Package and Patch release. For example for Support Package 1, servicelevel should be set to 1 and patchlevel should be set to 0. For Support Package 2 Patch 2 release, servicelevel should be set to 2 and patchlevel should be set to 2. The SAP_metadata.Properties files for different web application bundles can be found in thefollowing locations: BOE.WAR: <BOE_Install_Folder>\<Enterprise_DIR>\wdeploy\SLDSupport\NWSLD\BOE Web Services : <BOE_Install_Folder>\<Enterprise_DIR>\wdeploy\SLDSupport\NWSLD\dswsbobje Web Services: <BOE_Install_Folder>\<Enterprise_DIR>\wdeploy\SLDSupport\NWSLD\BusinessProcessBI Mobile: <BOE_Install_Folder>\<Enterprise_DIR>\wdeploy\SLDSupport\NWSLD\MobileOTA14 OpenSearch: <BOE_Install_Folder>\<Enterprise_DIR>\wdeploy\SLDSupport\NWSLD\OpenSearch Dashboard Design: submenu under SAP menu is disabled ADAPT If Dashboard Design is installed on a machine where SAP GUI is not installed, the submenu under the SAP main menu is disabled. To resolve this problem, install SAP GUI and Business Explorer, and then manually register the.dll file by calling "regsvr32.exe XcelsiusExtension.dll" in the "%Install_ROOT%\SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 \win32_x86" folder. Crystal Reports for Enterprise: How to "Find and Replace" in Formulas ADAPT Use the following steps in the Formula Workshop to find and replace text: 1. Click the "Find And Replace" button (or click Ctrl-F) to open a Find dialog box. From this dialog box, you can search and replace text within the Formula text box. 2. Click the Replace button to replace one occurrence, or click the Replace All button to replace all occurrences of the search text with the contents of the 'Replace With' text box. 12/33

16 Crystal Reports for Enterprise: Some reports created in XI4.0 SP0 that use hierarchies do not refresh correctly after upgrade to XI4.0 SP1 or later ADAPT Certain reports created using the Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0 SP0 do not refresh correctly when using Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0 SP1 and later. This problem is caused by a necessary correction made between SP0 and SP1 to how hierarchy identifiers are generated by the semantic layer. Affected reports include reports that are based off SAP BEx queries or OLAP universes and that include hierarchy objects in the query result objects even if the result object does not appear on the report canvas. To resolve this issue, use the following steps: 1. Open the report with Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0 SP1. 2. Click Page to view the report. 3. When the Verify database dialog prompt appears, click OK. The Map Objects dialog box appears. 4. Check the mapped objects. If your backend data source has not been changed, only the named hierarchy fields are listed in the mapped objects table. Otherwise, manually map the unmapped fields. 5. When you have confirmed that the information is correct, click OK. 6. Save your report to the local disk or to SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform. Web Intelligence: Can t save to repository without closing and re-opening Web Intelligence Rich Client. ADAPT It is not possible to save a Web Intelligence document to the repository when the document contains an Analytic Analysis query (pquery) after it is created. You must first save it locally. Then you can either close and re-open Web Intelligence Rich Client and open the Web Intelligence document or close Web Intelligence Rich Client and open the.wid document which will launch Web Intelligence Rich Client. The document will open correctly and can be saved to the repository. It is not possible to re-open, in the same session of Web Intelligence Rich Client, a Web Intelligence document with Analytic Analysis query (pquery). You can either close and re-open Web Intelligence Rich Client and open the Web Intelligence document or close Web Intelligence Rich Client and open the.wid document which will launch Web Intelligence Rich Client. The document will open correctly. Crystal Reports for Enterprise: Deactivating Smart guidelines works for specific elements only ADAPT The Crystal Reports for Enterprise user manual states the following for Smart guidelines: "The smart guidelines feature can be turned off in the "Report Options" dialog box. To deactivate the feature without turning it off, press ALT. " This deactivates or turns off Smart guidelines for a particular element that is chosen by the user, not for all the elements. This behavior allows the user to place the element exactly where they would like. 17 Viewing a demo document in the device without connecting to the SAP BusinessObjects BI platform repository. ADAPT When you launch the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile app on your device, the 'Welcome' page is displayed with the following options 1. You can view the demo document without connecting to the Business Intelligence(BI) Platform repository(cms) or 2. You can connect to the enterprise(bi Platform) repository and view the documents residing on the server. However, if you do not want to see this page each time you log on to the app, you can choose the "Do not show this screen again." option and you will be redirected to the login page. Web Intelligence: WiReportserver memory leak ADAPT A small memory leak in WiReportserver has been observed. Because the Web Intelligence server recycles after 20 minutes of inactivity, the leak should not impact deployment. Live Office: Failure with context and prompt in combination ADAPT Live Office is not able to use a Universe query that contains both a query context and a prompt. Web Intelligence Rich Client: Report name string cannot be longer than 31 characters. ADAPT On the Rename dialog box, upon typing the 32nd character, the "OK" button becomes grayed. On the Format Report General tab, the cursor backs up when you try to type the 32nd character. Running SAP Authentication role import with WebSphere web application server ADAPT When the Central Management Console is deployed using a WebSphere application server, it is possible to receive an error when accessing the Role Import screen for SAP Authentication. If this occurs, check WebSphere's Java library path and ensure that it includes the location of the libsapjco3.so file. If it does not point to the file: 1. Stop WebSphere. 2. Update WebSphere s Java library path to point to the libsapjco3.so file. 3. Restart WebSphere. If it is not possible to alter the Java library path, an alternative solution is to copy libsapjco3.so -- available in the <install directory>/enterprise_xi40/<platform>/ directory -- to the WebSphere bin directory and restart WebSphere. Installing in UNIX systems ADAPT When installing XI 4.0 on UNIX systems, users should ensure that the shell does not have the environment variable "R_SHLIB_LD_LIBRARY_PATH" set. Having this environment variable set maycause the install to fail and the servers to hang. 14/33

18 Query Panel: Sorting on an expanded list of values for a hierarchy fails ADAPT In the Query Panel of the information design tool and Crystal Reports, when you add a hierarchy to the filters pane and expand the list of values for the hierarchy, requesting a sort fails. Web Intelligence: CMS session sometimes not released after opening document based on a.unx universe ADAPT When logging off of Web Intelligence after opening a document based on a.unx universe, in some cases the associated session on the Central Management System is not released. Dashboard Design: The CMS fails when Dashboard Design and the BI platform are installed on the same machine. ADAPT If Dashboard Design and SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform are installed on the same machine, and you install Support Package 1, the Central Management Server fails to start. To resolve this issue, edit the Path value found at the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Shared Tools\keydecoder.dll After you install the support package, the path should be as follows: C:\Program Files (x86)\sap BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\\\keydecoder.dll To the path, add the missing "win64_x64" directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\sap BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\keydecoder.dll After editing the registry key, restart the Server Intelligence Agent. All BI platform servers should start again. Explorer: The Online Help available in Explorer is not the updated version ADAPT Explorer: The Online Help accessible from Explorer 4.0 SP01 is not the correct version for this release. You can access the updated Explorer Online Help guide in PDF format for release 4.0 SP01 (xi4sp1_exp_user_en.pdf) from the SAP Help Portal Information design tool: Missing documentation on backing up and restoring project workspaces. ADAPT To backup the project resources created in the information design tool: 1. Exit the information design tool. 2. On the local file system, navigate to the folder %USERPROFILE%\.businessobjects\bimodeler_14\. For example: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\.businessobjects\bimodeleter_14\ 3. Rename the workspace folder to workspace.bak. To restore the project resources from the backup in the information design tool: 1. Start the information design tool. A new workspace folder is created automatically. 2. Select File/Open Project from the main menu. 3. In the Import Existing Projects dialog box, Select the root directory and browse to the path of the workspace.bak folder created in the backup procedure. 4. Select the projects you want to restore. 5. Check the Copy projects into workspace check box and click Finish. 15/33

19 Environment variable defaults to the US time zone ADAPT An environment variable called TZ contains a POSIX-compliant string full of rules describing the local time zone of the system. For example, PST8PDT,M3.2.0,M11.1.0, indicating that DST starts on the second week of the third month, and ends on the first week of the eleventh month. This needs to be set correctly on your UNIX system for your time zone, otherwise the BusinessObjects Enterprise system will use the US time zone rules. Contact your system administrator to have this set before installation. Error message displayed in LCM while adding a system from Manage system page ADAPT If the Lifecycle Management Console application is hosted on SAP NetWeaver 7.2 application server, then while adding a system from the Manage system page of the LCM tool, the following error message will appear: lsis316:6400 does not exist in the network. To resolve this issue, first increase the swap memory space on the SAP NW 7.2 machine and then execute the workflows. This issue is fixed in the XI 4.1 release. Web Intelligence: Element links in charts are not supported ADAPT Hyperlinks are not currently supported in charts. Web Intelligence: Incomplete error message when a document of same name exists ADAPT When replacing a document in a folder where a document with the same name already exists, the following message should appear: "Another Web Intelligence document with the same name already exists in this folder. Do you want to overwrite it? Only the first part of the message is displayed: "Another Web Intelligence document with the same name already exists in this folder." Web Intelligence: When adding a hyperlink to a document, the "Choose a document" dialog box is not opened. ADAPT When setting a hyperlink to a document, on the browsing step, when you click the Browse button, the "Save As" dialog box is opened instead of the "Choose a document" dialog box. Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, and information design tool: truncation of digits when consuming BW through BEx queries ADAPT Accessing SAP BW through BEx requires specific regional settings for Windows account running SIA services. If account running services does not have a supported locale, BEx consumption returns incorrect measure values (decimal digits truncated). Please configure the BO services on your Windows server to run under a user (belonging to the local administrators group) that has the EN_US locale set in its profile, or update LocalSystem account to have this profile setting. This is a known problem of Web Intelligence running on an international (e.g. German) version of Windows. 16/33

20 Lifecycle Management: Promotion fails for jobs that include SAP NetWeaver BW or SAS relational connections ADAPT If a Lifecycle Management job includes an SAP NetWeaver BW or SAS relational connection, when you try to promote the job, the promotion fails. Explorer: Refer to the English version of the Explorer Installation and Explorer Administrator's Guide as the updated references ADAPT Use the English versions of the Explorer Installation Guide, and the Explorer Administrator's Guide as the reference versions for installing and administering Explorer. The localized Explorer guides do not contain up to date information. These will be updated in the next service release. Status of support of HP-UX for the SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0 Suite ADAPT The SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0 Suite is not available on HP-UX platforms at this time. Please disregard mentions of HP-UX in any documentation that may contain references to this platform and refer to the PAM for information on all supported platforms. Web Intelligence: in drag and drop, measure takes format of neighboring column ADAPT In a table, if you drag and drop a measure to the right side of another measure, the measure you add will take the number format of the existing left-hand measure. Workaround: After the drag and drop, change the number format manually. Known Issues and Limitations for SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Suite 4.0 Support Package 2 Information Design Tool: Set Row Count command in data foundation is not available ADAPT In the data foundation, the command to set row counts for tables is not implemented. Work around: 1. In the display pane for data foundation view, from the Detect menu (light bulb icon), select Detect Row Count. 2. In the Detect Row Count dialog box, enter the number of rows for the table in the Number of Rows column and click Finish. Information design tool: In data foundations with missing connections, cannot create joins or set cardinality ADAPT If a connection is missing for a data foundation, in the data foundation editor, you cannot set the cardinality of a join manually, and you cannot create a join. 17/33

21 Information design tool: Duplicate names improperly converted in linked universes ADAPT When converting a linked universe, if duplicate class names exist in the linked universes, the information design tool leaves the duplicate names. Therefore the business layer can have duplicate dimension names. Information design tool: Compute Statistics can have poor performance ADAPT When computing statistics for a multisource universe or business layer, in many cases the computation takes longer than expected. Workaround: Once the Compute Statistics is launched, you can minimize the Compute Statistics dialog box and continue to work in the information design tool. If you launch the command from the Business Layer Editor, do not close the editor until the computation is complete. Information design tool: Automatic join creation fails for some joins ADAPT If a database join expression includes only table names and no column names, creating a join in the data foundation fails. Crystal Reports for Enterprise: Common Semantic Layer Queries with group SQL function type measures and memo/blob objects ADAPT There are special universe design considerations to support a query that contains measures and memo/blob objects. If you query a measure with a group function in its SQL definition (for example, SUM) together with memo or blob objects, you may see an error message stating that this is not supported. For example, you have two universe objects in your query: EmployeeEducationSummary defined as a memo: Employee.EducationSummary OrderAmount defined as measure: SUM(Orders.OrderAmount) Use one of the following universe design options to avoid the error: 1. Convert memo/blob: When creating the universe object for the memo, use the DB convert function to convert the type to a char, such as convert(varchar(255), EducationSummary). The disadvantage of this solution is that the field content will be truncated if the memo/blob field exceeds the maximum character length. 2. Use derived table: When defining the measure in the universe, use a derived table: a. Create a derived table EmployeeSumOrders from the data source table using the following SQL statement (note: the column alias for summary is needed) i. SELECT EmployeeID, SUM(OrderAmount) "CalcSumOrders" ii. FROM Orders GROUP BY EmployeeID b. Link the table and the derived table on EmployeeID c. Expose the field CalcSumOrders from the derived table as a measure field with measure selection query. For example: "EmployeeSumOrders"."CalcSumOrders" 3. Expose the underlying fact (Orders.OrderAmount) measure directly, without a database function such as SUM. Then when creating the report, use OrderAmount directly and create a local Crystal Reports summary on it. The disadvantage of this approach is that the facts are all retrieved from the database rather than the sum being calculated in the database. 18/33

Information Design Tool: Member Selector does not take into account user s Preferred Viewing Language ADAPT When opening the Member Selector from the MDX Assistant, the Member Selector displays metadata in the language in which the business layer was created, rather than in the currently-set Preferred Viewing Language (PVL), even when metadata in the PVL is available. Navigation features within Help documentation ADAPT If you are using Firefox 3.6, certain navigation features within the Help documentation will not work after their initial request. Once selected, the following features will not respond with subsequent requests. - Table of Contents - Index - Search To workaround this issue, access the help using another supported version of the Firefox or Internet Explorer browsers. Information Design Tool: For multisource-enabled connections, no warning is given if user does not have Data Access right ADAPT If an information design tool user does not have Data Access right granted for connections in the Central Management Console, the user is not warned when accessing the data in a multisource-enabled connection in the information design tool. Any attempt to access data on the connection will result in an error. For the information design tool, the ODBC data sources that need to be used by the server components are defined using the ODBC Data Source Administrator that can be found at the following location on the physical machine where the server components are installed: 64 bit version: c:\windows\system32\odbcad32.exe. 32 bit version: c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe Web Intelligence db-specific calculated column syntax is not generated in multisource universes ADAPT Partially or totally qualified multi-source universe using db-specific calculated column syntax fails to be generated. Information design tool: It is not possible to delimit tables using the PRM parameter 'DELIMIT IDENTIFIER' ADAPT Table delimitation should be controlled with the a PRM parameter 'DELIMIT IDENTIFIER'. This parameter should be set to true for most databases except Sybase. However, this parameter is not used by information design tool. Information design tool: In the Query Panel, data preview may fail to display date formats when user-defined MDX used as filter ADAPT In user-defined MDX, such as calculated measure, the FORMAT_STRING for date formats works for display only.
