1 Consider this program if You want to advance your professorial career through an intense, fast-track doctoral program that engages you in applied research with a cohort of scholars seeking the same goal. You are currently employed by BYUIdaho as a professor who needs to complete a doctorate. You are ready to commit to a two year cohort program, starting in January 2011, and complete all requirements via hybrid, online, live, and weekend instruction. The total cost for the degree is $24,000, plus books/supplies. Financial assistance for full-time faculty is available from Brigham Young University. 2 Why this degree? Unique features of the program: Tailored, two year curriculum focusing on college teaching and higher education that includes 21 credits of content course-work, 12 credits of scholarly research courses, 12 credits in professional portfolio study and 9 credits of mentored/ internship teaching. Non-dissertation doctoral degree with scholarly portfolio as the cap-stone. Mentors from the UI faculty or another approved college who advise the student through the process. Program delivered at BYU-I designed specifically for BYU-I faculty career goals. Participation supported and encouraged by the administration of BYU-I to advance the strategic goals of the university and its employees. Cohort program provides additional opportunities for a community of learners who have made a commitment to complete the program together over a two years. The Program is contingent on a minimum of 25 candidates. The Mentored Teaching Internship: a tailored mentoring curriculum of 9 credits that includes but is not limited to Classroom teaching observations and discussions with a senior BYU faculty mentor and UI advisor designed to enhance teaching performance in three modalities live, online, and hybrid Independent research on topics designed to advance a specific teaching field for immediate application to teaching load Independent research on topics designed to advance a specific research technique. Professional Capstone Portfolio: a tailored curriculum of 12 credits which organizes Academic Core, Research Core, and Higher Education Internship course work into unified portfolio presented to the faculty and peers as the degree exit event. The Portfolio takes the form of artifacts, proposed research articles, applied projects, or creative work assembled as a result of experiential rounds with public agency, corporate and higher education placement arranged by the candidate and mentor/advisor. It may include, but is not limited to Observations/shadowing and journaling with three professionals: a public agency, corporate, and higher education practitioner. Completion of a leadership task, report, or scholarly research requested by a public agency, corporate, or higher education professional. Information is available at Graduate Admissions gradadmissions Submit a Letter of Interest and vita by June 30, 2010 to the University of Idaho College of Education Dean describing your intent and abilities to complete the program. See the address for Dean Mantle-Bromley in this brochure. The cohort requires a minimum of 25 students. Complete the University of Idaho Executive Ed.D. application. The application will be sent to prospective candidates after receipt of the Letter of Interest. Successfully interview with the Program Director and staff as arranged in the Fall semester of 2010 by the University of Idaho. The interview is the final step in selecting 25 cohort candidates for the January 2011 semester.
