Use company search for reviewing info and connections for target companies V. Being Found By Others (Profile): It All Starts With Your UNIQUE EXPERIENCES A. Profile is critical because 1. Tells your unique story (credibility and expertise) 2. Keywords (every word on profile is searchable) 3. Shows you are not a dinosaur B. What should I include on my profile? Use these two filters: 1. Does including the information add to my credibility or story? 2. Could I be found because I included this information? C. Profile Action Steps to Take: 1. Clean name (Maiden name and specific certifications ok) 2. Picture (Professional headshot with smile) 3. Professional headline, 120 characters ( IT professional seeking employment in ) 4. List all jobs descriptively (Tell story; keywords will help others find you) 5. Recommendations (2 or 3 for every job listed; hard work but worth it) 6. Vanity URL ( 7. Three websites (Rename descriptively; links to the internet; video resume) 8. Summary (2000 characters for keywords and telling story; Word, spell-check and paste) 9. Job experiences (2,000 characters, specific titles and descriptions) 10. Groups (Join them and be active) 11. 4 The Power Formula for LinkedIn Success free resources THE WORDS TO BEING FOUND ON LINKEDIN The key to winning the being found part of the LinkedIn game is having the right keywords in your profile. This worksheet is designed to help jumpstart your thought process as you begin to beef up your profile with keywords. Be sure your most important keywords are used numerous times. For me, those words would be office furniture and LinkedIn trainer. As a reminder, the places you can include them are: Headline (improves your search ranking) Summary Specialties Experience: Job titles (improves your search ranking) Experience: Description of jobs Recommendations Skills (improves your search ranking) Be sure to think of different words people may use to describe the same thing, like attorney & lawyer, legal & law, editor & proofreader, teacher & instructor. Titles you hold or have held Types of products or services you sell Brand names of the products you sell Brand names of the services you sell Job responsibilities you have had Specialty certifications or degrees you have received Names of software you know how to use
