3 E S C O N D I D O U N I O N Certified Nursing Assistant Home Health Aide The Escondido ROP is one of 22 school districts that comprise the greater San Diego County ROP system. ROP classes are tuition free and offer in-depth career and technical training. After completing an ROP class, students receive not only a certificate of completion but also a competency list that indicates all of the competencies they have mastered in the ROP course. 4 G R O S S M O N T U N I O N H E A L T H O C C U P A T I O N S C E N T E R Prerequisite courses: Health Care Essentials is a prerequisite course for some of the programs offered. Programs offered and program length: Certified Nursing Assistant Dental Assistant EMT - Basic Home Health Aide Licensed Vocational Nurse Pharmacy Tech Phlebotomy Tech Surgical Tech 2 semesters and internship 2 semesters and internship and 8 week internship and 10 week internship The mission of Grossmont Health Occupations Center is to provide affordable, quality education for those interested in employment preparation, skill advancement, and/or personal fulfillment in healthrelated fields. Health Occupations Center (HOC), one of six centers of Grossmont Adult School, has provided education and training in healthcare occupations for more than 50 years. HOC has an excellent reputation in the community and many highly successfully graduates working in their chosen fields. HOC students receive their clinical instruction in some of the finest medical facilities in San Diego County. 5 O C E A N S I D E U N I F I E D Medical Billing & Coding Phlebotomy Technician - Instruction covers medical ethics, medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, pharmacology (including injections), assisting with minor office surgery, diagnostic and laboratory procedures and EKGs. Medical Billing & Coding - Instruction covers ICD-9-CM and CPT codes used in insurance billing. Students learn medical codes used for diagnoses, procedures and services. Keyboarding skills and medical terminology recommended. Instruction also covers the following areas: physician office billing, hospital billing, CMS 1500 & UB04 claim forms, private insurance, managed care, Medicare, HMO, Medical, Tricare, receiving payments, collections, and legal considerations. - Instruction covers communication skills, medical terminology, appointment scheduling, preparing and maintaining records, and computer skills. Phlebotomy Technician - This course provides entry level and upgrade instruction in all methods of blood acquisition. Includes theory and clinical practice in a skilled nursing facility that prepares you for the California State Board Certified Nursing Assistant Examination.. All applicants must pass an entrance examination. Physical exams, Lifescan and TB tests are required for CNA students. - Prepare for work in the health industry as a Clinical. This course will prepare you to work in a variety of positions and teach you medical software and insurance.
