Just follow these three steps: 1 2 Open Your New United VIP Credit Union Account Stop by our Sterling Heights office at 8045 Constitution Blvd. Sterling Heights, MI Call us at (586) Once your account is opened, you ll instantly receive your new account number. Transfer Your Direct Deposit and Automatic Payments Use the attached Easy Switch Checklist to contact each payee (ex. utility company) directly or use the attached Automatic Deposit and Payment Transfer Form. Transfer your electronic deposits and payments to your new United VIP Credit Union account. If you receive Social Security payments, simply call (800) to make the switch. 3Close Your Old Account Monitor your old account to make sure all of your electronic deposits and payments have transferred over to your new account and all of the checks you have written have cleared. Withdraw any remaining funds. Close your old account using the Existing Account Closing Form (attached). Shred/destroy any old checks and debit cards (our United VIP Credit Union staff will be happy to assist you with this).

Determine the companies that automatically deposit into or withdraw from your previous checking account, including all ACH payments. Notify those companies of your new checking account information. Notification can usually be handled via company website, phone or mail. You can use the Direct Deposit Form to easily change your checking account information. This is also a great time to set up new Direct Deposit and Automatic Payments. 3 Close your old checking account. Be sure to keep your old checking account active with sufficient funds to cover any outstanding transactions, checks and automatic payments. Once all items have cleared, contact your old financial institution and request that they close your account and send you the remaining balance. Destroy your old checks and ATM/debit card(s). You can bring your old checks and ATM/debit card(s) to our United VIP Credit Union Sterling Heights branch and we will destroy them securely at no cost.
