1 THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR RESOURCE GUIDE
2 More than 18,000 students choose Midlands Technical College each year. Whether students want to pursue one of the college s more than 100 career-focused programs of study or transfer to a four-year college or university, Midlands Technical College is an ideal first step to achieving their goals. CAREER PROGRAMS MTC offers more than 100 careerfocused programs of study in the areas of Business and Public Service, Engineering Technologies and Engineering Transfer, Health Sciences, Industrial Technologies, Information Systems Technology, and Nursing. TRANSFER OPPORTUNITIES With careful planning, MTC s two-year Associate in Arts or Associate in Science can enable a student to enter four-year colleges and universities as a junior prepared to complete work toward a bachelor s degree in a number of majors. Colleges and universities throughout the nation accept transfer credit from MTC. See What Courses Transfer The South Carolina Transfer and Articulation Center (SC TRAC) is a helpful resource that lists course equivalencies among colleges and universities throughout the state. Search online sctrac.org. Bridge Programs Midlands Technical College offers Bridge Programs that provide enhanced opportunities for transfer to selected four-year colleges and universities. Currently, Bridge Programs exist between MTC and Benedict College, Claflin University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Lander University, Newberry College, and the University of South Carolina. Excellent transfer opportunities also exist with many other higher education institutions across the nation. Learn more at midlandstech.edu/bridge. DID YOU KNOW? MTC is the number one source of transfer students to South Carolina four-year colleges and universities.

Both programs allow students to earn credits that may be applied toward high school and college graduation and can be transferred to other colleges and universities. With Early College, students who take at least six MTC credit hours (or two classes) a semester may be eligible to receive Lottery Tuition Assistance, which can significantly reduce the amount of tuition they owe. Early College students take courses on one of MTC s campuses. Dual Enrollment is ideal for students who wish to take one to two MTC classes per semester, either on an MTC campus or at their high school. Students must have the written permission of their parent(s)/ guardian(s) and high school principal to participate in either program. Questions?
