3 How does it work? Event Calendar is a common calendar platform for NTU event dissemination. Campus Buzz is a weekly newsletter on student events. Student will receive the latest weekly events via their s The Event Calendar and the Campus Buzz e-newsletter are closely related. It is a single source of event published from the Event Calendar to the Campus Buzz and then to the Students 3

5 Event Calendar & Campus Buzz Who can publish event in NTU events Calendar? Only authorised student club officials with NTU issued role base accounts. How to publish event in NTU events Calendar? Events can be published via the NTU Event Calendar Admin Module. Access to NTU Event Calendar Admin module is restricted to NTU campus network. You will need to VPN to NTU if you are accessing it off campus Note: Student clubs whose Presidents are NIE students (who cannot access NTU StudentLink) need to apply using this PDF form 5

6 Event Calendar & Campus Buzz Is there a system for people to sign up to my event? You can use the Event Registration System (ERS) to enable users to register for your events. No approval is required. More info on ERS is available at tem.aspx 6

13 How to VPN to NTU To access your club web folder when you are not connected to NTU network or off campus, you will need to VPN to NTU On NTU webpage under LOGIN, click on NTU VPN and login using your NTU network account 13

14 How to connect to web folder One of the ways is to Map network drive to the folder Example 14

15 For incoming Club President Club President should update SAO informing that you are the new President SAO will then update the new club president details into the club database. Club President should then login to StudentLink->Student Club Website and Accounts Application Check if your club has any Role based accounts Check and update the webmaster account information. The webmaster account can be a personal NTU network account or a role based account 15

20 Role based Accounts With effect from Academic year 2014/15, all role based accounts are now created on Office365 instead of NTU exchange. FOC and available in blocks of 20 accounts. The format for the account usernames and display names will be as such: Display name: ClubName-Role address: Eg: #NTU Earthlink-President#, Not all 20 accounts need to be consumed. 20

21 Which account to use For NTU Event Calendar login and Club Web Folder access - Use designated NTU network account in Student domain - The password is NOT the office365 password For Role-based accounts on Office365 - Use Office365 login and password For PhpMyAdmin login to MySQL - Use MySQL login and password assigned to you during application or check with your previous webmaster For Application login (example WordPress login) - Check with your previous Webmaster 21

22 Which account to use There will only be 2 accounts that require NTU network account login and password. - Event calendar account - Club webmaster account 22

23 Club Website Listing You may want to list your club website address at A-Z directory 23

24 Club Website Listing There is an update function available on the page for changes 24

25 Review your Club Website Review and update your website contents as necessary If your website is running forums or blogs Review the postings or blogs for inappropriate contents Sometimes inactive and unmoderated blogs or forums may be infested with spam and adult contents 25

26 Club Website Security If you are running blogs or forums: Do not allow un-moderated comments. Spammers have been targeting club websites to post undesirable spam and adult contents. Do not allow auto registration of users Make sure all your user account passwords are complex and not easily guessable. 26

27 Club Website Security Upgrade WordPress Regularly Download from \\webx\wordpress. WordPress Security Keys and Salts All WordPress sites shall have WordPress Security Keys and Salts installed. Akismet and Wordfence plug-ins All WordPress sites shall have: Akismet installed and activated for protection against SPAM Wordfence installed and scan performed for vulnerable plugins 27

28 Club Website Security Vulnerable Club Website Club websites that are vulnerable will be blocked from Internet access. Security Measures Ensure the vulnerabilities and incidents are addressed Upgrade WordPress to the latest Ensure that WordPress Security Keys-and-Salts is installed Ensure that Akismet and Wordfence are upgraded and installed 28
