2 Amount of travel varies RELOCATION AUTHORIZED No KEY REQUIREMENTS U.S. Citizenship Required Current BAR Membership Earned J.D. or LL.B Degree This position is in the Excepted Service Proof of BAR membership in good standing DUTIES: As a Trial Attorney, you will have the full range of responsibilities for preparing and litigating employment discrimination cases under all of the federal statues enforced by the EEOC. You will perform the following duties: reviewing charge files and recommending the initiation of litigation; filing petitions for compliance with administrative subpoenas; seeking temporary injunction relief; filing motions to obtain compliance with court orders, decrees, and pre-suit settlement agreements; prosecuting cases to ensure consistency with EEOC ligitation policies and judicial precedents; conducting discovery for litigation in federal court; preparing and presenting motions, responses and oral arguments to the courts; preparing pretrial and post-trial briefs and materials; conducting all facets of trials in federal courts; and providing formal and informal legal advice and memoranda to agency personnel. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 1. All candidates must have earned their first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) and must be a member of the BAR. 2. In addition, applicants must have: For the GS-12: You must have earned a professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.), be a member of the Bar, and have one year of professional legal experience as demonstrated by engaging in the practice of law in a substantive area of the Agency's enforcement, related civil rights litigation, or general litigation in federal and/or state courts.
3 For GS-13: In addition to the basic requirementes described above, you must have at least two years of professional legal experience as demonstrated by engaging in the practice of law in a substantive area of the Agency's enforcement, related civil rights litigation, or general litigation in federal and/or state courts. NOTE: An advance law degree such as LLM or a JSD may substitute for one year of the required professional legal experience identified above for either grade level. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
